About the project

Foodies Project Overview

DeveloperLook designed and built Foodies, a food delivery app where customers browse nearby restaurants, customize meals, pay, and track orders live, plus a dashboard where restaurants run orders, reservations, and sales.

Foodies is a food delivery and restaurant management system built to improve both the dining experience and restaurant operations. Customers use a mobile app to explore menus, place orders, and track deliveries. Restaurants use a management dashboard for orders, reservations, staff, and analytics. The goal was to connect food lovers with many restaurants through one product.

New users pick the food categories they like, such as burgers, pizza, chicken, or kebabs. They can search by text or scan a food photo to find a dish. The restaurant list highlights nearby offers and discounts, a map shows restaurants around the user, and each restaurant page lists its distance, rating, minimum order, delivery time, and menu tabs. Dish pages show the price, discount, reviews, and recommended extras. Checkout covers the delivery address, an estimated arrival time, and payment by cash on delivery, PayPal, or card, and a live map tracks the courier until the order arrives.

The restaurant dashboard tracks income, total menus, revenue, and customers, with an order summary and a customer map. Further pages cover order tracking with a status timeline, customer insights and history, menu categories, a table reservation system, and analytics. The design runs to more than 28 pages.

Challenge and solution

What Foodies Needed and How We Built It

The challenge

Foodies had to serve two very different users in one system.

Customers expected a fast, intuitive, and appetizing app, while restaurant owners needed a back office for daily operations. Orders had to sync in real time between the app and the restaurant dashboard to avoid delays, and data security, payment integration, and support for many restaurants were firm requirements.

Our solution

We built a customer app with clear visuals, simple navigation, and secure ordering, where people browse menus, customize meals, pay, and track orders live.

For restaurant managers, a dashboard handles order processing, inventory, staff, and sales reports. Real-time updates keep customer orders and kitchen operations in step.

What we built

Features We Built for Foodies

  • Search by photo

Besides text search, a Scan Picture screen lets hungry users point the camera at a food photo on another screen and find matching dishes from restaurants in the app.

  • Filters and price range

A search sheet filters by category (fast food, lunch, dinner, or drinks), sorts by recommended, free delivery, or discount, and sets a price range with a slider before applying the search.

  • Restaurants and offers nearby

The restaurants screen opens with nearby offers and discount chips, then lists every restaurant with its address, rating, and cuisine tags. A map view shows restaurants around the user with delivery times.

  • Dish pages with extras

Dish pages show the price with any discount, the rating, a description, customer reviews, and recommended extras such as drinks, so customers build a full meal in one place.

  • Checkout and payment

Checkout shows the delivery address, an estimated delivery time, the subtotal and delivery fee, and three ways to pay: cash on delivery, PayPal, or a credit card.

  • Live order tracking

After ordering, a map follows the courier from the restaurant to the customer's address, with status steps for pickup, on the way, and arrival, plus a button to call the courier.

  • Restaurant dashboard

The dashboard tracks income, total menus, revenue, and customers, with an order summary by dish type, a customer map over the year, and an order timeline from creation to delivery.

  • Table reservations

A table reservation system lists bookings for staff, beside dashboard pages for customer insights and history, menu categories, and analytics, so dine-in and delivery run from one back office.

Questions About the Foodies Project

  • A food delivery app for customers and a management dashboard for restaurants. Customers choose favorite categories, find restaurants and offers nearby, customize meals, pay by cash, PayPal, or card, and track the courier live. Restaurants manage orders, reservations, staff, inventory, and sales reports. The project also covered the Foodies logo, app icon, signage, and social posts.

  • In several ways. They pick favorite categories when they sign up, search by text with filters for category, delivery, discount, and price, browse nearby offers, or open a map of restaurants around them. A Scan Picture screen also finds dishes from a food photo shown on another screen.

  • Once an order is placed, the app shows a map with the courier's route from the restaurant to the delivery address. Status steps mark pickup, the trip, and the drop-off with times, and the customer can call the courier. When the food arrives, a short screen asks them to rate the order and the delivery.

  • Income, revenue, menu, and customer totals on the home screen, an order summary by dish type, and a customer map over the year. Further pages cover order tracking with a status timeline, customer insights and history, menu categories, table reservations, and analytics, across more than 28 pages.

  • Yes. Scalability for multiple restaurants was a requirement from the start. The app lists many restaurants, each with its own menu, offers, rating, minimum order, and delivery time, and customers can compare them on a list or on a map before they order.

  • Yes. DeveloperLook designs and builds food delivery apps with restaurant listings, menus, meal customization, checkout, payments, and live order tracking, plus the dashboard restaurants use to manage orders and reservations. We start with how your customers decide what to eat, then shape the app and the back office around your delivery model.
