About the project

GlobalLens Project Overview

DeveloperLook designed and built GlobalLens, a news and blogging app where storytellers, travelers, and lifestyle writers share articles, photo stories, videos, and podcasts. The app handles high-quality media without slowing the interface.

GlobalLens is a content sharing and blogging app for the news space. It brings storytellers, travelers, and lifestyle enthusiasts together on one platform. There they publish visually rich articles, travel itineraries, lifestyle tips, and personal experiences, while readers follow their work and join an active community around it.

The app opens on a splash screen with sign up and sign in options. New accounts start with Apple, Facebook, Google, or an email address, and a forgot password screen handles recovery. The main feed shows a row of profile photos above tabs for Recent, Popular, Photos, and Videos. Each story card carries a cover image, a bold title, the time it was posted, and a bookmark icon.

Stories come in several formats. Long articles mix text with photo grids and topic tags, photo stories open in a full-screen viewer, and video posts show the clip length and view count. Podcast pages list audio episodes with a separate premium section, and lifestyle pieces such as recipes get their own full-bleed layout. Readers save anything to Bookmarks, filter it by format, and manage their feed, notifications, and community links from a profile menu.

Challenge and solution

What GlobalLens Needed and How We Built It

The challenge

GlobalLens needed a visually immersive content platform that still performed like a light mobile app.

Readers expected high-quality photos and videos without long loading times. The layout also had to put the content first, so each story stood out more than the interface around it.

Our solution

We designed GlobalLens with storytelling and the reader's experience at the center of every screen.

The app was optimized to handle high-quality images and videos without slowing down the interface. Large cover photos, bold titles, and clean typography keep each story visually engaging. Separate formats for articles, photos, videos, and podcasts let creators publish in the way that suits each piece.

What we built

Features We Built for GlobalLens

  • Story feed with tabs

The feed lists stories as dark cards with a cover photo, title, posting time, and bookmark icon. Tabs for Recent, Popular, Photos, and Videos change which stories the feed shows.

  • Long-form article pages

Articles open with a full-width cover, a bold headline, the publish date, and the view count. Body text runs between photo grids, with topic tags such as Travel and Norway and a share button at the end.

  • Photo stories and viewer

Photo stories gather a set of images under one headline and a short caption. Tapping a photo opens a full-screen viewer that counts through the set, such as 2 of 6.

  • Video stories

Video posts lead with a large player that shows the clip length, followed by the headline, date, view count, story text, and topic tags like Dance and Lifestyle.

  • Podcast episodes

Audio stories list each episode as a dark card with a play button, a waveform, and its running time. A separate premium episodes section sits below the main list of episodes.

  • Bookmarks by format

Readers save stories to a Bookmarks screen laid out as a grid of covers. Filters for All, Text, Photos, Videos, and Podcasts help them find a saved piece quickly.

  • Profile and settings menu

A profile screen shows the reader's photo and name with links to bookmarks, awards, and donations. Below them sit settings for the feed and notifications, plus community links for email and Twitter.

  • Social sign-up and recovery

New users sign up with Apple, Facebook, Google, or email and accept the terms of use with a toggle. A short forgot password screen lets them reset access through their email address.

FAQ

Questions About the GlobalLens Project

  • A mobile news and blogging app where storytellers, travelers, and lifestyle writers publish and readers follow their work. We designed and built the feed, article pages, photo and video stories, podcast episodes, bookmarks, profiles, and the sign-up flow. Large cover photos, bold titles, and clean typography keep attention on each story.

  • Text articles, photo stories, videos, and podcasts. The screens show a road trip itinerary through Norway's fjords, a kayaking photo set, and a video profile of a choreographer. Others cover a grilled salmon recipe and an audio series about the streets of Havana. Topic tags like Travel, Norway, Dance, and Lifestyle group related stories.

  • Performance was a core goal of the build, because slow loading was the main hurdle. GlobalLens was built to handle high-quality images and videos without slowing down the interface. Stories still lead with large cover photos, full-screen galleries, and video players, so readers get rich visuals while the feed and article pages stay responsive.

  • With the bookmark icon on every story card. Saved stories appear on a Bookmarks screen as a grid of covers, and filters for All, Text, Photos, Videos, and Podcasts narrow the list by format. Readers also reach their bookmarks from the profile menu, next to awards, donations, and feed settings.

  • From the splash screen, with Apple, Facebook, Google, or an email address. The sign-up form asks for an email, full name, and password, and a toggle confirms the terms of use. Returning readers sign in from the same screen, and a forgot password screen asks which contact details to use for the reset.

  • Yes. DeveloperLook designs and builds content apps with story feeds, long-form articles, photo and video stories, podcasts, bookmarks, and member profiles. We plan media handling early, so rich content stays quick to load on a phone. We begin with the stories your audience reads and shape the feed and formats around them.
