About the project

Hommie Project Overview

DeveloperLook designed and built Hommie, a real estate mobile app where first-time buyers, renters, and investors find, compare, and secure homes. Users draw a search area on the map, chat with agents, and pay rent in the app.

Hommie is a real estate mobile app that helps people discover and secure a home from their phone. Users explore listings, compare features, and connect with agents in one place. The design centered on accessibility, trust, and simplicity at every stage of the home search.

The app opens on a discover feed of listing cards, with category tabs, recent searches, smart search suggestions, and a price slider to narrow the choice. On the map, users draw the area they care about, compare price pins, and get turn-by-turn directions to a home. Property pages such as Cassablanca Ground show photos, the rating, the price, and reviews, with a Rent Now button that leads to an in-app checkout.

Users sign in with a phone number, Google, or Facebook, follow their alerts in a notifications list, and message agents in a built-in chat. A web dashboard shows the Hommie team revenue, listings, agents, rent applications, and messages. The warm color palette and minimalist type carry over to the app icon and a billboard that reads Home Hunting Made Simple.

Challenge and solution

What Hommie Needed and How We Built It

The challenge

Hommie had to show a lot of property data on a small screen: photos, prices, locations, and key amenities.

The challenge was keeping that detail within reach without crowding a clean, simple interface. Navigation also had to feel natural for first-time buyers, renters, and investors alike.

Our solution

We designed listing cards with filters, recent searches, and smart search for quick results.

On the map, users draw the area they want, compare price pins, and get directions to a home. In-app chat connects them with agents, renters pay through a built-in checkout, and a web dashboard tracks listings, rent applications, and messages. A warm color palette and minimal typography keep the brand friendly and trustworthy.

What we built

Features We Built for Hommie

  • Draw-on-map search

Users draw the area they want on the map and see the homes inside it as price pins, then get turn-by-turn directions to the one they like.

  • Discover feed and filters

Listing cards in a discover feed come with category tabs, recent searches, smart suggestions, and a price slider, so users can narrow a long list quickly.

  • Chat with agents

A built-in chat keeps every conversation with an agent in one list, so questions about a home stay inside the app instead of moving to email.

  • In-app rent checkout

Renters tap Rent Now on a property page, enter a payment method, and pay through a built-in checkout that ends on a payment success screen.

  • Sign-in and alerts

Users sign in with a phone number, Google, or Facebook, and a notifications list collects the alerts the app sends in one place.

  • Web dashboard

On the web, the Hommie team follows revenue, listings, agents, rent applications, and messages from one dashboard built alongside the app.

FAQ

Questions About the Hommie Project

  • A real estate mobile app and a web dashboard. In the app, first-time buyers, renters, and investors browse a discover feed and draw a search area on the map. They also chat with agents and pay rent through an in-app checkout. The dashboard tracks revenue, listings, agents, rent applications, and messages.

  • Users draw the exact area they want directly on the map, such as a few streets or a neighborhood. Homes inside it appear as price pins, so users can compare prices at a glance, open a property, and get turn-by-turn directions to it from the same screen.

  • Yes. A property page has a Rent Now button that opens a built-in checkout. The renter enters a payment method, confirms the payment, and sees a payment success screen, all without leaving the app or opening a separate payment page.

  • First-time buyers, renters, and investors. Each group looks for different details, so the app keeps photos, prices, locations, and key amenities within reach on cards and property pages. Navigation stays simple for someone using the app for the first time.

  • Through the in-app chat. From the chat list, users open a conversation with an agent and ask about a home, its price, or a visit. Every exchange stays inside the app, so users don't have to switch to email or a phone call to get an answer.

  • Yes. DeveloperLook designs and builds real estate mobile apps with map search, agent chat, in-app payments, and a web dashboard for the team. We map the steps your buyers and renters take on a phone first, then design the app and the dashboard around them.
