The Problem
WordPress speed problems stack up: a page builder here, a slider plugin there, a host that was fine when the site was small. Each one adds weight until visitors stop waiting.
01 · Plugin weight
A slider plugin loads its library on every page.
Heavy plugins get replaced or limited to the pages that need them.
02 · Builder bloat
The page builder adds scripts and markup everywhere.
Key templates get lighter markup or a rebuild in native blocks.
03 · Huge images
Full-size camera photos load on phones.
Images get resized and served as WebP or AVIF.
04 · Slow server
The host takes too long to respond.
We tune server caching or plan a move to faster hosting.
Your PageSpeed report is a wall of red, so you installed a caching plugin. Then another. The homepage still crawls on a phone because the page builder loads every widget's scripts on every page. A slider plugin pulls in its own library. Your images are full-size camera files. Search Console flags poor Core Web Vitals, and you can't tell which plugin is to blame.
We start by measuring each key template, then trace the delay to its cause: a heavy plugin, builder output, slow hosting, or a bloated database. Fixes target that cause, from replacing a plugin to rebuilding a template in blocks. We test before and after with lab tools and track real-visitor data in Search Console. You get a faster site for real visitors, not just a greener score in one test.
Measured per template
Each key template tested on its own, so fixes target the pages that matter most.
Plugins weighed one by one
Every plugin checked for the scripts, queries, and weight it adds to your pages.
Hosting checked too
Server response and caching reviewed, because no plugin can fix a slow host.
Our WordPress Speed Optimization Service Process
You see the baseline tests, approve the fix list, review results on staging, and get before and after numbers for every template we touched.
We test your key templates with PageSpeed Insights and Lighthouse, review plugins and hosting, and check Search Console's Core Web Vitals report. You get the main causes, a fix list, and a fixed quote.
What's Included
Each project covers measurement, plugin and image fixes, caching, script loading, database cleanup, and follow-up monitoring, sized to your templates and how deep the problems go.
Compare Options
A caching plugin is cheap and sometimes enough, and better hosting fixes a slow server. Here's what each actually changes on a slow WordPress site, and where it stops.
| Feature | DeveloperLookBest fit | Caching plugin | Hosting upgrade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Finds the cause | Measured per template | Assumes caching is it | Assumes the server is it |
| Plugin bloat | Heavy plugins replaced | Untouched | Untouched |
| Images | Resized, modern formats | Some plugins compress | Untouched |
| Server speed | Tuned or moved if needed | Masks slow responses | Faster responses |
| Page builder output | Lighter or rebuilt templates | Minifies, can break layouts | Untouched |
| Setup time | Days to a few weeks | Minutes to install | Hours to migrate |
| Testing | Staging, before and after | Often on the live site | Varies by host |
| Cost | From $600, fixed scope | Free to a low yearly fee | Higher monthly hosting |
Projects We've Built
Startup, IT, restaurant, and membership websites our team designed and built. Speed work applies to sites like these, whoever built them.
What Our Clients Say
Feedback from teams we have built and improved websites for.
We had a pretty specific idea of what we wanted our website to become, but I wasn’t sure how easily we could explain all of it to a development team. There were quite a few moving parts, and we were working toward a deadline, so I expected a few things to get lost along the way. That never really happened. They understood what we were trying to achieve, kept us updated throughout the process, and got everything ready within the agreed timeline. The final site feels much easier to navigate, works beautifully on mobile, and is noticeably smoother for our customers. It was a huge relief seeing the original idea actually turn into the website we had in mind.
The mobile experience is probably my favourite part of the new site. We had spent a lot of time making sure the desktop version looked right, and the team kept pushing us to think about how everything would actually feel on a phone too. They were right. The navigation is clean, the interactions feel natural, and everything we’ve tested so far works exactly as it should. They also went through the links, forms, integrations, and other details more than once before launch, which I really appreciated. And even after going live, we could still reach out when something came up. The whole process felt friendly, organised, and surprisingly straightforward.
What I appreciate most is that the website is actually easy for us to manage now. We can update content ourselves instead of sending a developer a message every time we need to change something small. They also paid attention to the technical SEO side, which mattered to us because we didn’t want a new website to create problems for the traffic we already had. I’ve probably asked more questions than I should have since launch, but every question has been handled patiently and without any fuss. The team is easy to work with, they explain things clearly, and when we need something changed, they focus on getting it done rather than making the process complicated.

Work Culture
Speed work goes wrong when someone chases a score instead of the visitor's experience. These habits keep fixes honest, tested, and durable after we leave.
We target a 90+ mobile PageSpeed score on the templates in scope and show you the before and after. Lab scores move between runs, so we track real-visitor data too.
We trace each delay to a plugin, template, server, or database before changing anything. Random tweaks can make one test greener and the site worse.
Speed changes like deferring scripts can break sliders, forms, or checkout. We test every fix on staging so your live site keeps working.
Our fixes usually remove plugins rather than add them. Every plugin you drop is one less thing to update, conflict, or slow you down.
If your hosting plan is the bottleneck, we'll say so and explain the options. Some sites need a better host more than any code change.
You get a short guide on image sizes, plugin choices, and what to avoid. Your site stays fast as new pages and plugins arrive.

Need ongoing upkeep
You want speed checked every month along with updates and backups. Our WordPress Maintenance Services plans include monthly speed checks.
Site needs a rebuild
Your theme is outdated and every page is built in a heavy builder. Our WordPress Development Services page covers a clean rebuild first.
Budget under $600

Speed work with DeveloperLook starts at $600 for plugin, caching, and image fixes on up to 5 key templates. A full Core Web Vitals pass across every template starts at $1,300, and builder or hosting fixes start at $2,300. You get a fixed price after a free audit that finds the main causes.
Plugin, caching, and image fixes take 1 to 2 weeks, and a full pass across every template takes 3 to 4 weeks. Rebuilding builder templates or moving hosts adds time. Real-visitor data in Search Console needs several weeks to reflect the changes, which is why follow-up monitoring runs 14 to 60 days.
We measure first and fix causes second. Each key template gets lab tests, a plugin and script review, and a hosting check, then we rank fixes by impact. Changes happen on staging, get retested against the baseline, and go live only when forms and checkout still work.
Start by removing plugins you don't use, then compress images and keep a single caching plugin configured properly. Check your theme, since page builders with many add-ons load a lot of scripts. Test with PageSpeed Insights before and after each change, so you know which step actually helped.
We find which builder widgets and add-ons load scripts on every page, then disable unused modules or limit assets per page. If a key template is still heavy, we rebuild it in native blocks while keeping the design. Many builders also have their own performance settings, which we enable and test.
Resize images to the size they display at, compress them, and serve modern formats. WordPress has supported WebP uploads since version 5.8 and AVIF since 6.5. Keep lazy loading on for images below the fold, which WordPress has done by default since 5.5, but make sure the main image isn't lazy loaded.
The fastest way is to fix the biggest cause first, which an audit identifies. On many sites that's a heavy plugin or uncompressed images, and on others it's slow hosting. Caching helps nearly every site, but it can't fix a slow server or a builder loading scripts everywhere.
Yes. We work with businesses in the UK, Ireland, and the rest of Europe, and calls run in UK business hours. The WordPress speed optimisation service is the same everywhere: a free audit, fixes on staging, and before and after reports, priced in USD with a fixed scope.
Yes. Our WordPress speed service covers WooCommerce too: cart fragments, product queries, and checkout scripts all affect store speed. We review which scripts load on shop pages and test checkout from start to finish after every change. For ongoing store care, our WooCommerce maintenance plans add monthly checks.
It will if new content and plugins follow the same rules. We hand over notes on image sizes, plugin choices, and what to avoid, and we monitor real-visitor data for 14 to 60 days. If you'd rather not watch it yourself, our maintenance plans include a monthly speed check.
