Start by checking which metric, LCP, INP, or CLS, is actually failing in Search Console or PageSpeed Insights, then fix the specific cause: slow server response and unoptimized images for LCP, heavy JavaScript for INP, and images or ads without reserved space for CLS. Fixing the wrong thing rarely moves the score.
Google Search Console's Core Web Vitals report shows real-user field data grouped by URL, while PageSpeed Insights and Lighthouse give you an on-demand lab test of any single page. We check both, since field data reflects actual visitors and lab data helps isolate the cause.
Once we know which metric is failing, we fix the root cause directly, compressing and properly sizing images, deferring non-critical JavaScript, setting explicit dimensions on images and embeds, and cleaning up render-blocking code, then re-test against the same baseline.
A single-metric fix on a straightforward site typically takes 3 to 5 business days. Sites failing multiple metrics or running a heavier, more customized stack can take 1 to 2 weeks.
Google considers Largest Contentful Paint 'good' at under 2.5 seconds, 'needs improvement' between 2.5 and 4 seconds, and 'poor' above 4 seconds. LCP is usually driven by server response time, render-blocking resources, and how quickly your largest image or text block loads.
Interaction to Next Paint measures how quickly your page responds to a click, tap, or keypress, and replaced First Input Delay as an official Core Web Vital. Google considers under 200 milliseconds good. We improve it by breaking up long JavaScript tasks, reducing main-thread work, and deferring scripts that aren't needed for the initial interaction.
On Shopify, high Cumulative Layout Shift usually comes from images and embeds loading without a reserved size, web fonts swapping in after the page renders, or apps injecting content, like banners or popups, above existing page content after it has already loaded. The fix is setting explicit dimensions and loading those elements without pushing content around.
Core Web Vitals can regress after new features, apps, ads, or content are added, so we recommend re-testing after any significant site change. Our post-launch support and optional retainer include monitoring so a regression gets caught before it costs you rankings or conversions.
