One feature usually takes 2 to 3 weeks from approved spec to launch. A multi-feature app takes 4 to 6 weeks. Plus builds with Functions and checkout extensions take 6 to 10, mostly because of testing across payment and shipping paths. We ship in stages, so you can use finished pieces early.
Custom code wins when no app fits your workflow or when you pay several apps to do one job. It also wins when an app's scripts slow your store. An app is the better choice when it's cheap, well supported, and does the job as is. We compare two years of app fees with the build cost before recommending either.
