How your project runs
Teams we have built for:

The Problem
Most wholesalers don't plan a portal. It becomes urgent when order volume grows, the team spends mornings retyping, and buyers start asking why they can't just reorder online.
01 · Retyping
Staff retype emailed spreadsheets into the ERP every morning.
Buyers order in the portal, and orders flow straight into your ERP.
02 · Price sheets
Buyers order from outdated PDF price sheets.
Each account sees its current price list, pulled from the ERP at login.
03 · Stock
Customers order items that are already out of stock.
Stock is checked before the order is placed, with backorder dates shown.
04 · Rep orders
Reps phone in orders after every customer visit.
Reps place orders on a customer's behalf in the same portal.
Monday morning, your inbox fills with purchase orders as spreadsheets, PDFs, and photos of handwritten lists. Someone retypes each line into the ERP, and one wrong SKU means a wrong shipment. Buyers order from last season's price sheet, then dispute the invoice. Reps phone in orders from the road. Customers ask why they can't just log in and reorder the way they do with other suppliers.
We start by mapping how orders arrive today and which ERP fields own prices, stock, and terms. Then we build a login-only portal where each buyer sees their own prices, orders by SKU or CSV, and reorders from history. Orders land in your ERP with the PO number attached. Your team stops retyping and starts handling the exceptions.
Their prices at login
Each buyer sees their own price list, minimums, and case packs as soon as they sign in.
Reorder in a few clicks
Past orders, saved lists, and CSV upload replace the weekly spreadsheet emailed to your sales inbox.
Your ERP stays the record
Orders land in your ERP with the PO number attached, while stock and credit flow back.
Our Wholesale Portal Development Process
You see how each account, price list, and term maps to your ERP before we quote, then watch a pilot with real buyers before every account is invited.
We look at how orders arrive today: emails, PDFs, phone calls, and rep notes, plus your ERP and price lists. You get a short report on what a portal would replace and which platform fits.
What's Included
Every portal is scoped to your accounts, price lists, and ERP. Most combine these six parts, with your store's built-in B2B features used wherever they already fit.
Compare Options
Off-the-shelf wholesale distributor order processing software suits teams with standard needs, and email works at low volume. Here's how each holds up as accounts and price lists multiply.
| Feature | DeveloperLookBest fit | Ordering software | Email and PDFs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Planning | Order review and ERP map first | Configure to its template | No setup needed |
| Account pricing | Each buyer sees their prices | Usually supported | Price sheets sent by hand |
| Ordering speed | Quick order, CSV, and reorder | Standard cart and catalog | Retyped line by line |
| ERP sync | Built around your ERP's data | Connectors for popular ERPs | Manual entry |
| Sales reps | Order on behalf of accounts | Varies by vendor | Phone and email |
| Support | 30 to 90 days included | Vendor's help desk | Your own staff |
| Ownership | Your code, data, and domain | Per-user subscription | Free, but costly in hours |
| Cost | Fixed price from $1,250 | Monthly fees per user | Lowest upfront cost |
Projects We've Built
Stores and admin dashboards we built for hardware, furniture, and fashion sellers. They aren't wholesale portals, but the account, catalog, and order logic is the same work.
What Our Clients Say
Feedback from teams we have built online stores and websites for.
We had a pretty specific idea of what we wanted our website to become, but I wasn’t sure how easily we could explain all of it to a development team. There were quite a few moving parts, and we were working toward a deadline, so I expected a few things to get lost along the way. That never really happened. They understood what we were trying to achieve, kept us updated throughout the process, and got everything ready within the agreed timeline. The final site feels much easier to navigate, works beautifully on mobile, and is noticeably smoother for our customers. It was a huge relief seeing the original idea actually turn into the website we had in mind.
The mobile experience is probably my favourite part of the new site. We had spent a lot of time making sure the desktop version looked right, and the team kept pushing us to think about how everything would actually feel on a phone too. They were right. The navigation is clean, the interactions feel natural, and everything we’ve tested so far works exactly as it should. They also went through the links, forms, integrations, and other details more than once before launch, which I really appreciated. And even after going live, we could still reach out when something came up. The whole process felt friendly, organised, and surprisingly straightforward.
What I appreciate most is that the website is actually easy for us to manage now. We can update content ourselves instead of sending a developer a message every time we need to change something small. They also paid attention to the technical SEO side, which mattered to us because we didn’t want a new website to create problems for the traffic we already had. I’ve probably asked more questions than I should have since launch, but every question has been handled patiently and without any fuss. The team is easy to work with, they explain things clearly, and when we need something changed, they focus on getting it done rather than making the process complicated.

Work Culture
A portal only works if buyers actually use it instead of emailing. These habits keep it accurate, quick to reorder from, and easy for your team to run.
We check whether your store's built-in B2B features already cover your accounts before suggesting a custom portal. If they do, we'll tell you before we quote.
Prices, stock, and credit come from your ERP, not a second copy kept in the portal. Your finance team keeps one source of truth.
Most wholesale orders repeat last month's, so reorder and saved lists come first in our screens. Buyers spend less time browsing a catalog they already know.
Sales reps get their own login to order on a customer's behalf. Their relationships stay intact while the retyping stops.
A few trusted accounts use the portal for real orders before everyone is invited. Pricing mistakes surface with friendly buyers, not your biggest account.
Portal code, hosting, the domain, and customer data stay in your company's accounts. You can bring the work in-house whenever you choose.
Overview
DeveloperLook builds a wholesale ordering portal for distributors and manufacturers whose trade customers still order by email, phone, or PDF price sheet. Buyers log in to see their own prices, order by SKU or CSV, reorder from history, and pay on terms, while your ERP stays the record. Projects start at $1,250 and take 3 to 14 weeks.

Good fit
Distributors taking orders by email
Your trade customers email spreadsheets and PDFs every week, and someone on your team retypes each line into the ERP before lunch.
Manufacturers selling to retailers
You sell to independent retailers on negotiated price lists, and every buyer needs to see their own prices, minimums, and case packs.
Wholesalers with field sales reps
Your reps take orders on the road and phone them in, and you want them ordering on a customer's behalf in one portal.
Suppliers that outgrew order forms
You run wholesale ordering through a shared order form, and it can't check stock, apply account pricing, or show order history.
Agencies with distributor clients
Your agency serves a distributor that needs a B2B webshop for its existing trade buyers, built and delivered under your brand.
Not a fit
Retail and B2B together
You want one store serving retail shoppers and trade buyers side by side. Our B2B Ecommerce Website Development team builds that combined storefront.
Native Shopify B2B is enough
You're on Shopify and only need companies, catalogs, and payment terms set up natively. Our Shopify B2B Ecommerce Agency page covers that quicker setup.
Budget under $1,250
Your budget is under $1,250, or you serve only a handful of trade accounts. A shared order form or your platform's built-in wholesale features will cover it.
Looking for new stockists
You want to reach new retail stockists rather than serve accounts you already have. Our Faire Wholesale Integration page covers selling through that marketplace.

Portals from DeveloperLook start at $1,250 for a login-only trade area on your current Shopify or BigCommerce store. A custom portal with ERP pricing, CSV ordering, and net terms starts at $4,200. Distributor portals with rep ordering, approval rules, and warehouse stock start at $8,800. Your price is fixed in writing after a free order review.
A portal on your existing store takes 3 to 4 weeks, and a custom portal with an ERP sync takes 8 to 14 weeks. ERP access is usually the slowest part, so we ask for a test environment in the first week. The buyer pilot adds about a week before every account is invited.
The best wholesale ecommerce platform is usually the one your retail store already runs, if its B2B features cover your pricing. Shopify, BigCommerce B2B Edition, and Adobe Commerce all support company accounts and account pricing. When your ERP holds complex pricing or you have no public store, a standalone portal in front of the ERP fits better.
Shopify makes sense when you already sell retail on Shopify and your trade pricing fits its B2B catalogs. Since April 2026, core B2B features such as company profiles, payment terms, and up to 3 B2B catalogs work on Basic, Grow, and Advanced plans. Customer-specific catalogs per company still need Plus, and our Shopify B2B Ecommerce Agency page covers that setup.
The portal reads prices, stock, credit limits, and invoices from your ERP and writes orders back with the buyer's PO number. We use the ERP's API where it has one, or a scheduled file exchange where it doesn't. Every sync logs its records and alerts your team when one fails, so a bad order doesn't sit unnoticed.
Yes, buyers can type SKUs with quantities, paste a list from a spreadsheet, or upload a CSV file. The portal checks each line against their price list and stock before the order is placed, and flags unknown SKUs instead of dropping them. Most repeat buyers end up using saved lists and one-click reorder.
Yes, reps get their own login and can order on behalf of any account assigned to them. They see that account's prices, terms, and history, so phone and email orders become portal orders. Each order records which rep placed it, which makes commission reports easier to run.
Yes, approved accounts can check out on net terms with a PO number, while new or cash accounts pay by card. Credit limits come from your ERP, and orders over the limit go to your team for approval. Invoices and statements appear in the buyer's account once your ERP issues them.
An ordering portal serves accounts you already have: login-only, built for reordering, with no public catalog or marketing pages. A full B2B store also wins new buyers, often beside a retail storefront. If you need both, our B2B Ecommerce Website Development page covers the combined build.
You do: the portal code, the hosting account, the domain, and your customer data all sit in your company's accounts. We document the ERP mapping and every sync job for your team. Support runs 30, 60, or 90 days by plan, and new features are quoted as separate fixed-price jobs.
