Teams we have built for:

The Problem
It shows up when a prime flows down CMMC requirements, a solicitation lists a level, or your affirming official asks what exactly they are signing each year.
01 ยท Level
Nobody knows whether the contract needs Level 1 or Level 2.
We read the clauses and confirm whether you handle FCI only or CUI.
02 ยท Templates
A template binder doesn't match how your network works.
Evidence is collected from your real systems, objective by objective.
03 ยท Interviews
Staff haven't practiced answering an assessor's questions.
We rehearse interviews so staff describe what they actually do.
04 ยท Affirmation
Your senior official signs each year without seeing evidence.
An affirmation calendar ties each yearly signature to current evidence.
Your prime's new subcontract names CMMC, and nobody in your shop knows whether you need Level 1 or Level 2. A previous consultant sold you a binder of templates that doesn't match your network. Your senior official is supposed to affirm compliance every year, and nobody has told them what they're signing. Assessors will interview your staff, test the settings, and ask for evidence for every objective. Guessing your way through that can cost you the contract.
We start by reading your contract clauses to confirm whether you handle FCI only or CUI, which sets your level. Then we walk through every assessment objective the way an assessor would, collecting the evidence and rehearsing the staff interviews. Gaps that would block conditional status come first. Your affirming official signs knowing what the evidence shows, not what a template promised.
Level matched to contracts
FCI-only work stays at Level 1, and CUI work gets the right Level 2 path.
Every objective tested
A mock assessment walks each objective with the evidence an assessor will ask for.
Affirmations kept current
Yearly affirmations scheduled and tied to fresh evidence, so the signature stays honest.
Our CMMC Consulting Process
You approve the level and the assessment scope, see the mock score objective by objective, and review every piece of evidence before an assessor sees it.
We read your contracts and solicitations for FAR 52.204-21, DFARS 7012, and CMMC clauses. You get the level you likely need, a written scope, and a fixed price. If you only handle FCI, we'll tell you Level 1 is enough before we quote.
What's Included
Each engagement covers the level decision, a checklist by objective, a mock assessment, the evidence binder, interview prep, and the affirmation calendar your plan includes.
Compare Options
A template toolkit is the cheapest start, and your in-house IT team knows the network best. Here is where each one falls short once an assessor starts asking questions.
| Feature | DeveloperLookBest fit | Template toolkit | In-house IT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level decision | Read from your contract clauses | Left to you | Often guessed |
| Evidence | Collected from your real systems | Template documents to fill in | Gathered when someone asks |
| Mock assessment | Objective by objective | Self-scored checklist | Rarely done |
| Interview prep | Rehearsed with your staff | Not included | Not included |
| Technical fixes | Blocking gaps fixed first | Not included | Yes, when time allows |
| Affirmation upkeep | Yearly calendar with owners | Reminder emails | Easy to forget |
| Speed to start | Within a week | Download today | Already on staff |

Projects We've Built
IT, construction, attendance, and payroll systems we designed and built, the kind of business software a CMMC assessor reviews once it touches CUI.
What Our Clients Say
Feedback from teams we have built business systems, apps, and websites for.
We had a pretty specific idea of what we wanted our website to become, but I wasnโt sure how easily we could explain all of it to a development team. There were quite a few moving parts, and we were working toward a deadline, so I expected a few things to get lost along the way. That never really happened. They understood what we were trying to achieve, kept us updated throughout the process, and got everything ready within the agreed timeline. The final site feels much easier to navigate, works beautifully on mobile, and is noticeably smoother for our customers. It was a huge relief seeing the original idea actually turn into the website we had in mind.
The mobile experience is probably my favourite part of the new site. We had spent a lot of time making sure the desktop version looked right, and the team kept pushing us to think about how everything would actually feel on a phone too. They were right. The navigation is clean, the interactions feel natural, and everything weโve tested so far works exactly as it should. They also went through the links, forms, integrations, and other details more than once before launch, which I really appreciated. And even after going live, we could still reach out when something came up. The whole process felt friendly, organised, and surprisingly straightforward.
What I appreciate most is that the website is actually easy for us to manage now. We can update content ourselves instead of sending a developer a message every time we need to change something small. They also paid attention to the technical SEO side, which mattered to us because we didnโt want a new website to create problems for the traffic we already had. Iโve probably asked more questions than I should have since launch, but every question has been handled patiently and without any fuss. The team is easy to work with, they explain things clearly, and when we need something changed, they focus on getting it done rather than making the process complicated.

Work Culture
CMMC compliance consulting touches contracts, government affirmations, and controlled data. These habits keep your results honest and your shop running while we work.
We aren't a C3PAO and don't issue CMMC results. We get you ready, then stand behind your team while an authorized assessor or your own official does the rest.
Your level comes from your contracts, not from fear. We read the actual clauses before recommending any work, which often keeps FCI-only shops at Level 1.
We coach staff to describe what they really do, not to recite a script. Assessors spot memorized answers, and honest ones hold up better.
Some requirements can't sit on a POA&M at all. We fix those and other high-weight gaps before the paperwork items.
A yearly affirmation is a statement to the government. We tie each one to fresh evidence, so your official knows exactly what they're signing.
The binder, scores, and records stay in your systems, organized by objective. We close our accounts at handover and list every change we made.
Overview
DeveloperLook provides CMMC consulting for defense contractors and subcontractors. We match your contracts to Level 1 or Level 2, test every assessment objective in a mock assessment, build the evidence binder, and set the yearly affirmation calendar. Projects start at $700 and take 1 to 14 weeks, and we never act as your C3PAO.

Good fit
Subcontractors handling only FCI
Your purchase orders carry FAR 52.204-21 but no CUI, and you need a Level 1 self-assessment and affirmation done correctly the first time.
Machine shops receiving CUI drawings
Your prime sends controlled drawings, so CMMC Level 2 applies, and you want a CMMC consultant to test you before anyone else does.
Contractors bidding on new solicitations
Your next bid lists a CMMC level, and you need CMMC compliance support that tells you honestly whether you can meet it in time.
Companies with a stale self-assessment
Your score went into SPRS last year, the network has changed since, and your affirming official doesn't want to sign blind.
MSPs serving the defense base
Your defense clients need mock assessments and evidence binders, and you'd rather hand that work to a partner who stays behind your brand.
Not a fit
Want us to certify you
Your contract calls for a certification assessment, and you want us to perform it. That job belongs to an authorized C3PAO, and we get you ready for one.
Need the SSP written
Your main gap is a missing system security plan and POA&M. Our NIST 800-171 compliance services page covers writing those documents.
Criminal justice data
Your sensitive data is criminal justice information, not defense data. Our CJIS compliance services page covers that policy instead.
Budget under $700
Your budget is under $700 and you only handle FCI. DoD's published Level 1 assessment guide may be enough for a careful self-assessment.

For contractors handling CUI that need an honest Level 2 score before the real assessment.
$3,400one-time, USD
For contractors that must close blocking gaps before a self-assessment or C3PAO date.

For Agencies
You own the client relationship. We supply the level review, mock assessments, and evidence binders under your brand. Your defense clients get assessment-ready evidence without you hiring a CMMC specialist.
White label: your client only ever sees your brand
Send the client's contracts, where FCI or CUI lives, and the deadline they face.
We return a written scope, a request list, and a fixed price per client.
We run the mock assessment, file the evidence, and hand over in your format.
You deliver the results while we work under your brand.
Mock assessment results broken down by objective for each client.
Yearly affirmation dates tracked across all of your defense clients.
One subcontractor's Level 1 or a portfolio of Level 2 clients.
The Right Technology for Your Project
We work in the Microsoft government cloud and endpoint tools most defense contractors already run, and assess with DoD's own CMMC guides.

Our CMMC consulting starts at $700 for a Level 1 self-assessment with affirmation planning. A Level 2 mock assessment with an evidence binder and interview prep moves you to $3,400, and full Level 2 readiness with blocking gaps fixed starts at $7,200. A C3PAO's assessment fee, if your contract requires one, is separate.
CMMC compliance support takes 1 to 2 weeks for Level 1 and 3 to 14 weeks for Level 2. A mock assessment alone fits in 3 to 5 weeks. Fixing gaps such as MFA or FIPS-validated encryption takes longer, especially when CUI is spread across many systems.
CMMC compliance means meeting the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification level your DoD contract requires and keeping it current. Level 1 covers 15 basic safeguards for FCI, Level 2 covers the 110 NIST SP 800-171 requirements for CUI, and Level 3 adds 24 NIST SP 800-172 requirements. Each level comes with assessments and yearly affirmations.
CMMC 2.0 is the streamlined program DoD finalized in 32 CFR Part 170, effective December 16, 2024. It cut the original five levels to three and allows self-assessments at Level 1 and for some Level 2 contracts. DoD could start adding the CMMC clause, DFARS 252.204-7021, to contracts on November 10, 2025.
CMMC compliance is required when your contract or solicitation includes the CMMC clause and names a level. Phase 1 began on November 10, 2025, with self-assessments. In July 2026 DoD suspended the planned Phase 2 move to required C3PAO assessments while it reviews the program, but self-assessments, affirmations, and DFARS 7012 duties still apply.
CMMC Level 2 compliance means meeting all 110 NIST SP 800-171 Revision 2 requirements on systems that handle CUI. Depending on the contract, you prove it by self-assessment or a C3PAO assessment every 3 years, plus yearly affirmations. A score of at least 88 can earn conditional status, with POA&M items closed within 180 days.
For a small subcontractor, it usually means proving the level your prime flows down, often Level 1 if you only see FCI. If you receive CUI, such as controlled drawings, Level 2 applies to the systems that touch it. Shrinking where CUI lives is often the cheapest way to keep the assessment small.
Maintain CMMC compliance as a yearly cycle, not a one-time project. Re-check controls after network changes, refresh evidence before each annual affirmation, keep training and access reviews current, and repeat the assessment on schedule. Give it one owner, because each affirmation carries your company's name to the government.
Look for a CMMC compliance company that runs mock assessments objective by objective and fixes gaps, not one that only sells templates. The Cyber AB marketplace lists Registered Practitioner Organizations and C3PAOs, so you can check credentials there. DeveloperLook runs pre-assessments and fixes gaps but holds no RPO or C3PAO status.
Choose a CMMC consultant who reads your contracts before quoting, tests objective by objective, and prices a fixed scope. Ask whether they fix gaps or only report them, and keep your C3PAO separate from the readiness work. Avoid anyone promising certification, because only an authorized C3PAO or your own assessment decides the result.
