Shopify POS setup by location
Locations, staff PINs, receipts, taxes, and payment methods set up per shop, with POS Pro only where it pays off.
For retailers selling in shops and online: Shopify POS set up, or your existing till connected, so stock, customers, and orders stay in sync, from $800.

The Problem
A POS integration with Shopify usually starts after an oversold weekend. The shop, the website, and sometimes a separate till each keep their own count, and staff stop trusting all three.
01 · Overselling
The website sells items the shop sold this morning.
One inventory per location, updated with every till sale and online order.
02 · Barcodes
Shelf barcodes don't match the SKUs online.
Every item gets one SKU and barcode before any rollout or sync starts.
03 · Offline
The card reader stalls whenever the shop Wi-Fi drops.
Offline payments set up on supported readers and tested with Wi-Fi switched off.
04 · Two systems
Counterpoint and Shopify each show a different stock number.
A scheduled sync keeps items, stock, and sales matched, with alerts on failures.
A customer buys the last jacket in your shop at 10 a.m., and by noon the website has sold it twice. Barcodes on the shelf don't match the SKUs online, so staff count stock by hand every Monday. When the Wi-Fi drops, the card reader stalls and the queue grows. If your shops run NCR Counterpoint, someone retypes web orders into it each morning. Every channel sells, but none of them agree on stock.
We start with a walkthrough of your shops, hardware, and catalog, then match every SKU and barcode across the till and the website. Shops that can move get Shopify POS with staff PINs, paired hardware, and offline payments set up. Shops that keep Counterpoint get a scheduled sync for items, stock, customers, and sales. You end up with one stock count, not three guesses.
One stock count everywhere
A sale in the shop lowers stock for the website, and online orders can be picked up in store.
Your current till, connected
Stores keeping NCR Counterpoint get a sync for items, stock by location, customers, and sales tickets.
Ready for offline moments
Offline payments set up and tested on supported readers before your first busy weekend on the new tills.
Our Shopify POS Integration Process
You see the SKU map, location setup, and hardware list before we quote, then watch test sales and stock counts before each shop goes live.
We review your shops, hardware, catalog, barcodes, and any POS you plan to keep. You get a written plan: Shopify POS or a sync, which shops need POS Pro, and what hardware to buy or reuse.
What's Included
Every project is scoped to your shops, hardware, and the systems that stay. Most combine these six parts, from location setup to a till guide for each store.
Compare Options
Shopify POS integrations can run through a connector app or a DIY setup, and both suit simple stores. Here's where each holds up once several shops and older tills are involved.
| Feature | DeveloperLookBest fit | Connector app | DIY setup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Planning | Walkthrough and SKU map first | Install and map fields | Learn as you go |
| Stock accuracy | SKUs matched before go-live | Depends on clean SKUs | Barcodes often mismatched |
| Offline sales | Tested with Wi-Fi switched off | Depends on the POS | Found out on a busy day |
| Older tills | Custom sync for Counterpoint | Limited list of systems | Rarely realistic |
| Hardware | Paired and test-sold | Not included | Trial and error |
| Support | 30 to 90 days included | Vendor's help desk | Shopify support only |
| Ownership | Your code and accounts | Monthly subscription | Yours, no handover needed |
| Cost | Fixed price from $800 | Low monthly fee | Lowest upfront cost |
Projects We've Built
Stores and admin dashboards we built for hardware, furniture, and fashion retailers. They aren't POS rollouts, but the stock, order, and location logic is the same work.
What Our Clients Say
Feedback from teams we have built online stores and websites for.
We had a pretty specific idea of what we wanted our website to become, but I wasn’t sure how easily we could explain all of it to a development team. There were quite a few moving parts, and we were working toward a deadline, so I expected a few things to get lost along the way. That never really happened. They understood what we were trying to achieve, kept us updated throughout the process, and got everything ready within the agreed timeline. The final site feels much easier to navigate, works beautifully on mobile, and is noticeably smoother for our customers. It was a huge relief seeing the original idea actually turn into the website we had in mind.
The mobile experience is probably my favourite part of the new site. We had spent a lot of time making sure the desktop version looked right, and the team kept pushing us to think about how everything would actually feel on a phone too. They were right. The navigation is clean, the interactions feel natural, and everything we’ve tested so far works exactly as it should. They also went through the links, forms, integrations, and other details more than once before launch, which I really appreciated. And even after going live, we could still reach out when something came up. The whole process felt friendly, organised, and surprisingly straightforward.
What I appreciate most is that the website is actually easy for us to manage now. We can update content ourselves instead of sending a developer a message every time we need to change something small. They also paid attention to the technical SEO side, which mattered to us because we didn’t want a new website to create problems for the traffic we already had. I’ve probably asked more questions than I should have since launch, but every question has been handled patiently and without any fuss. The team is easy to work with, they explain things clearly, and when we need something changed, they focus on getting it done rather than making the process complicated.

Work Culture
A POS rollout is judged on the shop floor, not in a meeting. These habits keep tills working, stock counts honest, and staff confident from the first sale.
We check whether Shopify POS on its own covers your shops before suggesting a sync to another system. If it does, we'll tell you before we quote.
We look at each location's staff, returns, and reporting needs before recommending POS Pro. A quiet pop-up shop often does fine with the free features.
Every item gets one SKU and barcode across the till and the website before anything syncs. Mismatched codes cause most of the wrong stock counts we see.
We switch off Wi-Fi during test sales to see exactly what your staff will face. Nobody discovers the offline limits for the first time on a busy Saturday.
Go-lives happen before opening or on quiet trading days, with us on call. Your shop floor keeps selling while the switch happens.
Sync code, credentials, and app settings stay in your company's accounts. You can change providers or bring the work in-house without starting over.
Overview
DeveloperLook sets up Shopify POS integrations for retailers who sell in shops and online. We roll out Shopify POS with staff, hardware, and offline payments, or connect a POS you keep, such as NCR Counterpoint, so stock and orders sync by location. Projects start at $800 and take 1 to 8 weeks.

Good fit
Online brands opening a first shop
You sell online and are opening a shop or market stall, and you want Shopify POS set up so both channels share one stock count.
Retailers running several locations
Your stock sits in three shops and a warehouse, and staff can't see which location has the size a customer is asking for.
Retailers keeping NCR Counterpoint
Your stores run NCR Counterpoint, and you need an NCR Counterpoint Shopify integration so web orders and stock stop living in two systems.
Stores counting stock with RFID
You're planning an RFID integration: Shopify POS should show the counts your handheld readers take on the shop floor each week.
Agencies with retail clients
Your agency builds Shopify stores for retailers and needs POS rollouts and till syncs delivered under your brand.
Not a fit
Keeping Square or Clover
Your shops run Square, Clover, or Lightspeed and you're keeping them. Our Shopify Square, Clover and Lightspeed Sync page covers those connections.
No online store yet
You don't have a Shopify store yet and need one built first. Our Shopify Store Setup Services team launches the online side before any POS work.
Budget under $800
Your budget is under $800 and you run one small shop. Shopify's free POS app and its setup guide may be enough, and we'll say so before we quote.
Restaurant table service
You run a restaurant that needs table service, kitchen screens, and tips by table. A hospitality POS fits that better than a retail setup.

For Agencies
You own the client relationship. We supply the retail engineering: Shopify POS rollouts, hardware testing, and syncs to tills your client keeps. Fixed quotes protect your margin, and each go-live is scheduled around your client's trading hours.
White label: your client only ever sees your brand
Send the store list, current tills, hardware, and your client's opening dates.
You get a SKU map, a fixed quote, and go-live dates you can promise.
Tested tills, trained staff, and till guides delivered under your brand.
Your brand on every deliverable, and no client contact unless you ask.
Readers, printers, and scanners paired and tested before your client opens.
Quotes you can resell, with no surprise invoices during rollout.
Enough people to roll out several shops in the same week.
The Right Technology for Your Project
We use Shopify's own POS tools and APIs, plus proven integration tooling for the tills and back-office systems you keep.

Shopify POS integrations with DeveloperLook start at $800 for one shop, including staff setup, hardware pairing, and test sales. Multi-store rollouts with up to 4 locations start at $2,600. Syncing Shopify with a POS you keep, such as NCR Counterpoint, starts at $5,600. Your Shopify plan, POS Pro, and hardware are billed by Shopify, and our price is fixed after a free walkthrough.
One shop takes 1 to 2 weeks, including hardware pairing, staff setup, and test sales. Multi-store rollouts and third-party POS syncs take 4 to 8 weeks. The slowest part is usually cleaning up barcodes and SKUs so every item matches across the shop and the website.
Shopify POS integrates natively, since it runs on the same admin as your online store. Square, Clover, and Lightspeed connect through apps or built-in integrations, which our Shopify Square, Clover and Lightspeed Sync page covers. NCR Counterpoint connects through middleware or a custom sync. If you're choosing a POS that integrates with Shopify from scratch, Shopify POS is usually the simplest path.
Shopify POS shares your products, prices, customers, and inventory with the online store in one admin. A sale in the shop lowers stock for the website, and online orders can be picked up or returned in store. Each shop is its own location, so stock is tracked per site. POS Pro adds extras such as returns at any location.
Yes, partly: Shopify POS takes cash and manual payments offline, and card payments too once offline payments are turned on. Cards need a supported reader, and swipe, Tap to Pay on phones, and manual card entry don't work offline. Payments are captured when the device reconnects, ideally within 24 hours. We test the Shopify POS online, offline integration by switching off Wi-Fi during test sales.
Shopify's POS pricing page lists POS Pro at $89 USD per month for each location, billed yearly. Every paid Shopify plan already includes basic in-person selling, so POS Pro is an add-on. It adds unlimited staff, roles and permissions, returns at any location, and retail reports. We check which shops actually need it before you pay for every location.
Install the Shopify POS app, add your shop as a location, and add staff with their own PINs. Then pair the card reader, receipt printer, and scanner, assign stock to the location, and run a few test sales and returns. Our setup plan covers all of it, plus barcode labels and staff training.
Yes, through middleware or a custom sync. Counterpoint's REST API runs as a service on your own server, and API keys come through NCR, so access is the first thing we confirm. We usually sync on a short schedule for items, stock by location, customers, and sales tickets, with a retry queue and alerts when a record fails.
RFID works through an App Store app that links handheld readers to Shopify inventory. Staff scan whole rails of tagged items at once, and the counts update stock for that location. We connect the app, map each tag to its SKU or barcode, and compare the first counts with a manual count before your team relies on them.
You get 30, 60, or 90 days of support by plan, covering hardware questions, staff permissions, and any sync errors. We leave a one-page till guide for each shop and walk new staff through it on a call. Sync code, credentials, and app settings stay in your accounts, so you can switch providers whenever you like.
