Gallery and custom app setup
Microsoft's gallery apps first, then custom SAML enterprise apps and OIDC app registrations for everything else.
For Microsoft 365 companies whose in-house, SaaS, and on-premises apps still need their own passwords, VPN trips, or hand-managed access.

The Problem
It shows up when a leaver keeps access to the claims system, or when an auditor asks why the warehouse app still has its own password list.
Own user table
The claims system keeps its own list of passwords.
Own user table
MSAL sign-in with Entra ID, with app roles read from the token.
VPN for one app
Remote staff need the VPN just to open the warehouse app.
VPN for one app
Application proxy publishes it with Microsoft sign-in in front.
Lost roles
People in many groups lost their roles in a SaaS tool.
Lost roles
Group overage handled by reading large group lists from Microsoft Graph.
Leavers
Disabling one account doesn't close every app.
Leavers
Every connected app trusts Entra ID, so a disabled account can't sign in.
Your team signs in to Outlook and Teams with a Microsoft account. The claims system your team built in .NET still keeps its own user table. The warehouse app runs on a server in the office, so remote staff need the VPN just to log in. Someone tried connecting a SaaS tool to Azure AD last year, but users in many groups lost their roles. When people leave, your IT team disables one account and hopes the rest follow.
We start by sorting every app into gallery app, custom SAML, or an MSAL code change. Your on-premises Active Directory syncs to Entra ID, so one account rules. Groups and app roles flow into tokens, with large group lists read from Microsoft Graph. Office apps get published through application proxy, and a disabled account loses sign-in to every connected app.
Apps on My Apps
Your in-house and SaaS apps open from the Microsoft My Apps portal with each person's work account.
One directory in sync
On-premises Active Directory feeds Entra ID, so every app sees the same account and groups.
Office apps without the VPN
On-premises web apps reach your remote staff through application proxy, with Microsoft sign-in first.
Our Azure AD and Entra ID Integration Process
You approve the sync method, the group design, and the rollout order, and a pilot group signs in to every app before the rest of the company.
Every Azure Active Directory integration starts with your tenant, your licenses, any on-premises Active Directory, and the apps people still sign in to separately. You get a per-app plan. If an app's gallery guide already covers you, we'll tell you before we quote.
What's Included
App connections in Entra ID, directory sync from on-premises Active Directory, groups and app roles in tokens, Conditional Access where licensed, MSAL code where needed, and on-premises publishing.

What Our Clients Say
Feedback from teams we have built platforms, apps, and websites for.
We had a pretty specific idea of what we wanted our website to become, but I wasn’t sure how easily we could explain all of it to a development team. There were quite a few moving parts, and we were working toward a deadline, so I expected a few things to get lost along the way. That never really happened. They understood what we were trying to achieve, kept us updated throughout the process, and got everything ready within the agreed timeline. The final site feels much easier to navigate, works beautifully on mobile, and is noticeably smoother for our customers. It was a huge relief seeing the original idea actually turn into the website we had in mind.
The mobile experience is probably my favourite part of the new site. We had spent a lot of time making sure the desktop version looked right, and the team kept pushing us to think about how everything would actually feel on a phone too. They were right. The navigation is clean, the interactions feel natural, and everything we’ve tested so far works exactly as it should. They also went through the links, forms, integrations, and other details more than once before launch, which I really appreciated. And even after going live, we could still reach out when something came up. The whole process felt friendly, organised, and surprisingly straightforward.
What I appreciate most is that the website is actually easy for us to manage now. We can update content ourselves instead of sending a developer a message every time we need to change something small. They also paid attention to the technical SEO side, which mattered to us because we didn’t want a new website to create problems for the traffic we already had. I’ve probably asked more questions than I should have since launch, but every question has been handled patiently and without any fuss. The team is easy to work with, they explain things clearly, and when we need something changed, they focus on getting it done rather than making the process complicated.

Work Culture
Azure AD and Entra ID integration decides who reaches your business apps, so a pilot group signs in to every app before the whole company does.
Conditional Access and application proxy need Entra ID P1 or higher. We confirm what your plan includes before designing anything around it.
Tokens drop the groups claim past 150 groups in SAML or 200 in JWTs. We read large lists from Microsoft Graph, so your users keep their roles.
Sign-in code for your in-house apps arrives as pull requests with tests. Your developers approve each change, and old ADAL code comes out in the same pass.
Each app asks Microsoft Graph only for the permissions it uses, and your admin approves each consent. Over-broad app permissions stay out of your tenant.
A small group signs in to every app before the rest of the company. Problems with claims or roles surface early, while few people are affected.
Every app registration, policy, and runbook lives in your own Microsoft tenant. You can change or remove any of it without calling us.
Overview
DeveloperLook handles Azure Active Directory integration for Microsoft 365 companies, now under the Microsoft Entra ID name. We connect in-house and SaaS apps with OIDC or SAML, sync on-premises Active Directory, and map groups and app roles. Office apps get application proxy. Projects start at $750 and take 1 to 7 weeks.

Good fit
Microsoft 365 companies with in-house apps
Your staff use Microsoft work accounts for Outlook and Teams, but the .NET claims system and two other in-house tools still keep their own passwords.
IT teams running hybrid Active Directory
You still run on-premises Active Directory, and you need a Microsoft Active Directory integration plan that keeps it in step with Entra ID.
Companies adding SaaS tools
You bought a SaaS tool that supports SAML, and you want an Azure AD SAML integration done properly, with roles mapped from your groups.
Developers on .NET or Node.js
Your developers need to connect Azure AD to a line-of-business app, and old ADAL code has to go before anything else changes.
Agencies building for Microsoft clients
Your client wants the portal you're building to use their Microsoft work accounts, through an Azure AD app integration their IT team can manage.
Not a fit
Customer sign-up and login
You need sign-up and login for your product's own customers. Our Auth0 implementation services fit that better than a workforce directory.
Okta runs your directory
Your company runs Okta as its main identity provider and Entra ID sits behind it. Our Okta integration services start from that side.
Device management
You mainly need laptops and phones enrolled and managed. Our mobile device management setup service covers Intune and device rules.
Budget under $750
Your budget is under $750 and the app is already in Microsoft's gallery. Its gallery tutorial may get you there on your own.

For Agencies
You own the client relationship. We supply the Entra ID engineering: app connections, directory sync, groups and roles, and MSAL changes in the client's apps. Your client sees your brand on every document we deliver.
White label: your client only ever sees your brand
Send the app list, licenses, and whether on-premises Active Directory still runs.
You get a per-app plan, a sync approach, and a fixed price under your brand.
We connect the apps, pilot with real users, and hand over branded runbooks.

Active Directory integration is connecting an application to Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID, so people sign in with their existing work accounts. On-premises apps usually use LDAP or Kerberos against the domain. Azure Active Directory integration does the same in the cloud, through OpenID Connect or SAML with Entra ID.
Yes. Microsoft announced the rename of Azure Active Directory to Microsoft Entra ID on July 11, 2023, and the service itself didn't change. Older docs, apps, and libraries still say Azure AD, and so do most searches. Every Microsoft 365 tenant already runs on Entra ID, so you likely have it now.
An Azure AD integration starts at $750 at DeveloperLook for one app connected to Entra ID with OIDC or SAML, groups, roles, and a runbook. The $2,300 plan adds directory sync and up to 8 apps with Conditional Access. The $5,150 plan adds MSAL code in 3 in-house apps, Microsoft Graph data, and application proxy.
An AAD integration takes 2 to 5 business days for one app, including a pilot group. Directory sync with up to 8 apps takes 2 to 4 weeks. Code changes in in-house apps and application proxy publishing stretch it to 7 weeks, mostly for testing with real accounts.
You integrate with Active Directory in one of two ways, depending on the app. Modern apps connect to Entra ID through OpenID Connect or SAML, with on-premises accounts synced up by Entra Connect. Older apps that only speak LDAP or Kerberos stay on the domain, or reach remote users through application proxy.
Azure AD and Office 365 are already integrated, because every Microsoft 365 subscription runs on an Entra ID tenant. The real work is linking it to on-premises Active Directory with Entra Connect Sync or Cloud Sync, using password hash sync, pass-through authentication, or federation. Then one account signs in to Office 365 and your apps.
Use an app registration for apps your team builds, and an enterprise application for apps you buy. The app registration holds your app's OpenID Connect settings and roles for MSAL. The enterprise application is the app's instance in your tenant, where gallery and SAML apps get users, groups, and single sign-on settings.
Groups and roles reach your app as claims in the token Entra ID issues at sign-in. App roles appear in the roles claim. Group claims stop at 150 groups in SAML tokens and 200 in JWTs. Past that, Entra ID sends an overage claim, and your app reads the full list from Microsoft Graph.
Yes. Microsoft Entra application proxy publishes on-premises web apps to remote users, who sign in with Entra ID before they reach the app. A private network connector inside your network makes outbound connections only, so you open no inbound firewall port. It needs Entra ID P1 or P2 licenses, which we check first.
Entra Connect Sync servers must run version 2.6.84.0 or later with application-based authentication by April 7, 2027, or synchronization stops. Older 2.x versions also retire on a rolling schedule. We check your version during the review and plan the upgrade, or a move to Cloud Sync, inside the project.
