How your project runs
Teams we have built for:

The Problem
It shows up when your acquirer or payment processor asks for a passing quarterly scan. The ASV's report then fails on findings nobody on your team knows how to fix.
01 ยท Jargon
The report lists CVE numbers and cipher names, nothing else.
Each finding is explained in plain English and sorted into fix or dispute.
02 ยท False alarms
Patched servers still fail because their version number looks old.
We write dispute evidence that shows your ASV the backported patch.
03 ยท Weak TLS
Old TLS versions and weak ciphers stay switched on.
TLS is hardened on every in-scope host and tested against your checkout.
04 ยท Rescan loops
Each rescan fails again on something new.
Our own scan checks every fixed host before you request the rescan.
Your payment processor emails that this quarter's ASV scan failed, and non-compliance fees start next month. The report lists CVE numbers, cipher suites, and an OpenSSH version on a server you didn't know was in scope. Your host says that server is patched, yet the scanner disagrees. You request a rescan after a quick fix, and it fails again on a different finding. Meanwhile the processor's deadline keeps getting closer.
We start by reading your ASV report finding by finding and sorting each one into fix, dispute, or out of scope. Then we fix what's real on your servers, hosting, or CDN, harden TLS, and write dispute evidence for false positives such as backported patches. Before you request the rescan, our own scan checks every fixed host. You go into the rescan knowing what it will find, instead of hoping.
Fixes on your real hosts
Server software, TLS settings, and exposed ports corrected on the systems your ASV actually scans.
Disputes written with evidence
False positives get a written case with package versions and patch proof for your ASV to review.
Checked before the rescan
Our own scan confirms every fixed host first, so the official rescan holds fewer surprises.
Our PCI ASV Scan Remediation Process
You approve the fix list and change windows before anything on your servers changes. Then we fix, document, and pre-check, and you request the official rescan from your ASV.
Send us your failed ASV report or your scan scope. We sort each finding into fix, dispute, or out of scope, and you get a written fix plan and a fixed price. If your host can close every finding for free, we'll tell you before we quote.
What's Included
Each engagement starts with a plain-English review of your ASV report. Then come fixes on your servers and hosting, TLS hardening, dispute evidence, and a pre-check before the official rescan.
Compare Options
Your ASV's help desk explains findings at no extra cost, and many hosts fix TLS settings for free. Here is where each option holds up when a scan fails.
| Feature | DeveloperLookBest fit | ASV help desk | Your host |
|---|---|---|---|
| Report reading | Every finding explained in plain English | Explains the finding text | Reads it if asked |
| Server fixes | Fixed on your hosts | Not their job | Their layer only |
| False positives | Dispute evidence written for you | Reviews disputes you submit | Rarely involved |
| TLS and ciphers | Hardened on every in-scope host | Flags weak settings | Fixed on managed plans |
| Scope | Reviewed and reduced where possible | Scans what you list | Not involved |
| Before the rescan | Checked with our own scanner | Rescans when you ask | Not offered |
| Speed | Fix plan in 2 business days | Ticket queue times vary | Fast for simple TLS fixes |
| Cost | From $550, fixed scope | Included with your scans | Often free on managed hosting |
Projects We've Built
Online stores we built with checkout flows and admin dashboards. Stores like these take card payments online, which brings quarterly PCI DSS scans into the picture.
What Our Clients Say
Feedback from teams we have built apps, platforms, and websites for.
We had a pretty specific idea of what we wanted our website to become, but I wasnโt sure how easily we could explain all of it to a development team. There were quite a few moving parts, and we were working toward a deadline, so I expected a few things to get lost along the way. That never really happened. They understood what we were trying to achieve, kept us updated throughout the process, and got everything ready within the agreed timeline. The final site feels much easier to navigate, works beautifully on mobile, and is noticeably smoother for our customers. It was a huge relief seeing the original idea actually turn into the website we had in mind.
The mobile experience is probably my favourite part of the new site. We had spent a lot of time making sure the desktop version looked right, and the team kept pushing us to think about how everything would actually feel on a phone too. They were right. The navigation is clean, the interactions feel natural, and everything weโve tested so far works exactly as it should. They also went through the links, forms, integrations, and other details more than once before launch, which I really appreciated. And even after going live, we could still reach out when something came up. The whole process felt friendly, organised, and surprisingly straightforward.
What I appreciate most is that the website is actually easy for us to manage now. We can update content ourselves instead of sending a developer a message every time we need to change something small. They also paid attention to the technical SEO side, which mattered to us because we didnโt want a new website to create problems for the traffic we already had. Iโve probably asked more questions than I should have since launch, but every question has been handled patiently and without any fuss. The team is easy to work with, they explain things clearly, and when we need something changed, they focus on getting it done rather than making the process complicated.

Work Culture
Fixing scan findings means changing live checkout servers. These habits keep your store selling while every failing finding gets closed or documented.
Every TLS or server change is followed by a check of the full payment flow. A passing scan isn't worth much if customers can't pay.
Fixes go live in low-traffic windows you approve, each with a rollback note. Your busiest selling hours stay untouched while we work.
We're not an Approved Scanning Vendor and don't present ourselves as one. The ASV you choose makes the final call, which keeps your result independent.
Dispute evidence names the package, the patch, and the proof in the format ASV reviewers expect. Clear evidence saves a round of back-and-forth.
We look for systems that don't need to be in scope, like old staging hosts or forms that can move to hosted payment fields. A smaller scope means fewer findings every quarter.
We use temporary accounts on your servers and hosting panel. They're removed at handover, and you get a list of every change we made.
Overview
DeveloperLook fixes what fails a PCI ASV scan for online merchants and SaaS teams. We read your ASV report and fix servers, TLS settings, and exposed services. We also write dispute evidence for false positives and pre-check every host before the rescan through your own ASV. Fixes start at $550, with a fix plan in 2 business days and most hosts rescan-ready in 1 to 2 weeks.

Good fit
Online stores with a failed quarterly scan
Your ASV's portal shows a failed scan, your acquirer wants a passing report, and the findings mention TLS versions and OpenSSH builds nobody on staff recognizes.
SAQ A merchants new to ASV scans
Your checkout hands payment to a provider, yet SAQ A in v4.0.1 still calls for a PCI DSS ASV scan of your store pages each quarter.
SaaS platforms taking card payments
Your PCI ASV scanning keeps failing on old staging servers and forgotten subdomains that your developers barely remember setting up.
Merchants on self-hosted WooCommerce or Magento
You host your own WooCommerce or Magento store, and each quarterly scan flags outdated server software and weak TLS settings on the box.
Agencies and hosts serving merchants
Your merchant clients forward their ASV PCI compliance reports to you, and you need someone to fix and document the findings under your brand.
Not a fit
Need the scan itself run
You need the official quarterly scan, not fixes. DeveloperLook isn't an Approved Scanning Vendor, so pick one from the PCI SSC list, and we'll fix whatever it flags.
Need full PCI DSS compliance
You need policies, a self-assessment questionnaire, and every PCI DSS requirement covered, not just the external scan. Our cybersecurity consulting services cover compliance readiness.
Want your whole network scanned
You want every server and laptop scanned on a schedule, not one PCI scope fixed. Our vulnerability scanning services run that from $400 a month.
Budget under $550
Your scan failed on a single hosted site and your budget is under $550. Your hosting provider's support team can often close TLS findings for free, so ask them first.

For Agencies
You own the merchant relationship. We fix failed ASV findings, write dispute evidence, and prepare rescans under your brand. Your clients get a clear path to the rescan without you keeping a PCI specialist on staff.
White label: your client only ever sees your brand
Send the merchant's failed ASV report and hosting or CDN access details.
You get a fix plan and a fixed price within 2 business days.
We fix, write disputes, and prepare the rescan under your brand.
You deliver the fix report and keep every merchant conversation.
Dispute write-ups and fix reports carry your logo and wording.
A written fix plan within 2 business days of each failed report.

Straight answers on cost, scan timing, passing criteria, disputes, and what an ASV does that we don't.

DeveloperLook's remediation starts at $550 for up to 5 failing findings on 2 hosts, including dispute evidence and a pre-rescan check. The $1,150 plan covers 15 hosts and 20 findings with TLS hardening, and the $1,750 plan covers 40 hosts with scope reduction. The PCI ASV scan cost itself is separate and paid to your ASV.
The external scan itself usually finishes within a few hours for a small set of IPs. Getting to a pass takes longer when findings fail. Our fix plan arrives in 2 business days, and most hosts are rescan-ready in 1 to 2 weeks. Disputes add your ASV's own review time, so start well before the quarterly deadline.
It's the ASV scan PCI DSS requires at least once every 3 months under requirement 11.3.2, run by a PCI SSC Approved Scanning Vendor. The ASV scans your internet-facing IPs and domains, reviews the results, and issues a report your acquirer accepts. Under the ASV Program Guide, findings scored 4.0 or higher on CVSS fail the scan.
Most people mean the quarterly external ASV scan that merchants send to their acquirer, though PCI DSS also requires internal scans. The external one must come from an Approved Scanning Vendor. Internal scans under requirement 11.3.1 can be run by qualified staff or a provider, and they must use authenticated scanning since March 2025.
PCI DSS asks for a passing external scan by an ASV at least once every 3 months, covering every internet-facing system in scope. After a significant change you also need an external scan with findings scored 4.0 or higher resolved, though that one needn't come from an ASV. Under v4.x, SAQ A merchants with redirect or iframe checkouts need the quarterly scans too.
Fix every finding scored 4.0 or higher on CVSS, plus automatic-fail issues such as cross-site scripting, then rescan. In practice that means current server software, TLS 1.2 or later with strong ciphers, closed database and admin ports, and valid certificates. Findings that are false positives need dispute evidence that your ASV accepts.
You can start it yourself, but only on a PCI SSC listed ASV's scan solution, and the ASV reviews and attests the result. Your own scanner can't produce a passing ASV report. It's still useful for a practice run, which is why we scan your hosts with our tools before the official scan.
Most failures trace back to weak TLS, outdated server software, exposed ports, or bad certificates. That means TLS 1.0 or 1.1 still enabled, old web server or OpenSSH builds, database and admin ports open to the internet, and expired or mismatched certificates. Self-hosted WooCommerce and Magento servers often add an outdated PHP version. Each is usually quick to fix once someone knows where to look.
A dispute is your written case to the ASV that a failing finding is wrong or already handled. Common examples are a Linux package with a backported security patch, a host outside your scope, or a risk covered by a compensating control. The ASV reviews the evidence and decides. If the finding returns next quarter, expect to send the evidence again.
No. DeveloperLook isn't on the PCI SSC list of Approved Scanning Vendors and doesn't issue scan reports. We work alongside the ASV you choose: we fix and document, you request the scan and rescan in its portal, and the ASV makes the call. That keeps the official result independent of the people doing the fixes.
