How your project runs
Teams we have built for:

The Problem
Reviews stall in predictable ways: an app gets retired, requests go out before the parcel arrives, and happy buyers don't get asked at all.
01 · Lost reviews
Old reviews vanished when the previous app stopped working.
We import every review with its date, rating, and photos into the new app.
02 · Bad timing
Requests go out at shipping, before the product even arrives.
Requests wait until delivery, then follow up once with a photo prompt.
03 · Hidden stars
Collection pages and search results show no star ratings.
Stars go on product and collection cards, with rating markup for search.
04 · Low ratings
A 1-star review sits unanswered at the top of the page.
Your team gets a reply routine, so low ratings get a quick, honest answer.
Your bestseller had 140 reviews until the old app stopped working, and now its product page shows an empty box. The review app you installed in a hurry sends its request the day the order ships, so buyers rate the delivery, not the product. Photo reviews rarely come in. Your collection pages show no stars, and Google shows none either. One angry 1-star review sits unanswered at the top for weeks.
We start with your catalog and order volume, then pick the review app that fits instead of the loudest one. Old reviews come across with their dates and photos. Requests go out after delivery, with a reminder and a photo prompt. Stars show on product and collection pages, ratings reach Google, and your team gets a simple routine for answering low ratings.
Stars where shoppers decide
Ratings on product pages, collection cards, and search results, not buried at the bottom of the page.
Requests timed to delivery
Buyers get asked after the parcel arrives, when they can actually judge the product.
Inside the FTC review rule
No bought, fake, or filtered reviews, and incentives only for any honest review.
Our Shopify Product Reviews Setup Process
You approve the app choice and the request emails before anything goes live, then see stars on your real product pages before buyers do.
We look at your current reviews, apps, order volume, and theme. You get an app recommendation with monthly costs, a list of reviews worth importing, and a fixed quote for the setup.
What's Included
Every setup covers an app chosen for your store, imported reviews, review sections and stars styled to your theme, timed request emails, rating markup, and a reply routine.
Compare Options
For reviews, Shopify app choice comes down to photos, request timing, and Google feeds. A DIY install is free, and a freelancer costs less. Here's the trade.

Projects We've Built
Beauty, fashion, and furniture stores our team designed and built, where the product page carries the sale and shopper feedback matters.
What Our Clients Say
Feedback from teams we have built online stores and store features for.
We had a pretty specific idea of what we wanted our website to become, but I wasn’t sure how easily we could explain all of it to a development team. There were quite a few moving parts, and we were working toward a deadline, so I expected a few things to get lost along the way. That never really happened. They understood what we were trying to achieve, kept us updated throughout the process, and got everything ready within the agreed timeline. The final site feels much easier to navigate, works beautifully on mobile, and is noticeably smoother for our customers. It was a huge relief seeing the original idea actually turn into the website we had in mind.
The mobile experience is probably my favourite part of the new site. We had spent a lot of time making sure the desktop version looked right, and the team kept pushing us to think about how everything would actually feel on a phone too. They were right. The navigation is clean, the interactions feel natural, and everything we’ve tested so far works exactly as it should. They also went through the links, forms, integrations, and other details more than once before launch, which I really appreciated. And even after going live, we could still reach out when something came up. The whole process felt friendly, organised, and surprisingly straightforward.
What I appreciate most is that the website is actually easy for us to manage now. We can update content ourselves instead of sending a developer a message every time we need to change something small. They also paid attention to the technical SEO side, which mattered to us because we didn’t want a new website to create problems for the traffic we already had. I’ve probably asked more questions than I should have since launch, but every question has been handled patiently and without any fuss. The team is easy to work with, they explain things clearly, and when we need something changed, they focus on getting it done rather than making the process complicated.

Work Culture
Reviews only help when shoppers believe them. These habits keep your reviews honest, current, and visible in the places where buyers make up their minds.
If a free review app plan covers your store, we'll tell you before you pay for more. Paid tiers earn their fee with photos, Google feeds, or volume.
Every incentive, import, and moderation setting gets checked against the FTC's review rule. Your reviews stay real, so they hold up when shoppers look closely.
We base request timing on when your parcels arrive, not when they ship. Buyers who have the product write useful reviews instead of shipping complaints.
Photo and video prompts go in the request and the reminder. Real photos from buyers answer the fit and color questions your own images can't.
Imported reviews keep their original dates, ratings, and replies. We don't edit buyer wording, and imported reviews stay labeled where your app supports it.
Your reviews stay exportable from the app you choose. If you switch apps later, the CSV comes with you, and nothing starts from scratch.

Good fit
Stores that lost Shopify's free app
Your reviews lived in Shopify's old Product Reviews app, and since it was retired your product pages show no stars at all.
Stores choosing a review app
You're comparing Judge.me, Yotpo, Okendo, and Loox, and you want the best product review app for Shopify stores your size.
Brands with few reviews per order
You ship hundreds of orders a month, but only a handful of buyers leave a review because nobody asks at the right time.
Stores moving between review apps
Your current review app got expensive or slow, and you need every review, photo, and reply moved without losing dates.
Agencies adding reviews for clients
Your agency builds Shopify stores and needs review apps, request flows, and Google ratings set up under your name.
Not a fit
Bought or filtered reviews
You want reviews bought, written for you, or filtered so only good ones show. The FTC's review rule bans that, and we don't do it.
Emails are the real gap
Your review app works, but your post-purchase emails don't. Our Post-Purchase Email Automation service builds those flows before reviews come into it.
Budget under $400
You have a few products and a budget under $400. A free review app plan, installed from the Shopify App Store, will cover the basics.
Loyalty points are the goal
You mainly want points and rewards, with reviews as one way to earn them. Our Loyalty Program Development service builds that program first.

Send the client's store, current review app, and monthly order volume.
You get an app recommendation and a fixed quote to resell.
Reviews imported, stars live, and requests tested before your client sees them.
Setup notes and moderation guides go out under your agency's name.
Review widgets matched to the theme your team designed.
A price set by app, review count, and request flows.
Extra hands when review setups pile up beside theme launches.
The Right Technology for Your Project

Setup with DeveloperLook starts at $400 for app choice, installation, stars on product and collection pages, imported reviews, and a timed request email. Photo reviews, Klaviyo flows, and Google ratings start at $1,100. Migrations of up to 20,000 reviews with custom sections start at $2,600. Review app fees are separate and go to the app.
Adding reviews to a Shopify store takes 3 to 5 business days for a new app with a simple import. Photo reviews, Klaviyo flows, and Google ratings take 1 to 2 weeks. Moving up to 20,000 reviews between apps with custom sections takes 2 to 4 weeks, mostly spent checking the import product by product.
Shopify doesn't collect product reviews on its own: your product pages need a review app. The Shopify App Store lists many, from free plans to paid tools with photo reviews and Google feeds. Online Store 2.0 themes then show the app's review section and star ratings as blocks you place in the theme editor.
No. Shopify used to offer a free Product Reviews app, but it was phased out, and the Shopify Product Reviews app was discontinued in 2024. No Shopify native product reviews feature has replaced it on theme product pages, so stores use apps such as Judge.me, Yotpo, Okendo, or Loox. Exported reviews from the old app can be imported.
Pick a review app that fits your catalog, install it, and import any old reviews from a CSV. Then add its review section to your product template and star ratings to your collection cards in the theme editor. Finish by setting the request email to send after delivery and testing it with a real order.
Open the theme editor, go to your product template, and add your review app's block. Place it where shoppers will see it, usually under the price or above the description. Add the star rating block to product cards on collection pages too. If the blocks don't appear, turn on the app's embed under App embeds first.
Enable product reviews by switching on your review app's embed in the theme editor, then publishing its blocks on the product template. In the app, choose whether new reviews publish automatically or wait for approval. Holding back only negative reviews counts as review suppression under the FTC rule, so moderate for spam and abuse, not star count.
More reviews come from asking at the right time and making it easy. Send the request a few days after delivery, add one reminder, and let buyers rate inside the email. Photo prompts and a packaging insert help too. Incentives are allowed only for any honest review, positive or negative, under the FTC rule in force since October 21, 2024.
Review apps such as Judge.me and Loox can import AliExpress reviews by product link. Import them only when you ship the identical item, keep the imported label visible, and leave out reviews about the supplier's shipping. The FTC's rule bans reviews that misrepresent a reviewer's experience, so edited or mismatched imports are a real risk.
Choose by what you need most: a free plan with unlimited reviews, photo and video reviews, or reviews tied to loyalty and SMS. Judge.me suits most growing stores, Loox suits photo-led brands, and Yotpo or Okendo suit larger catalogs with bigger budgets. The best app is the one your team will keep using every week.
