The Problem
It starts once your warehouse, purchasing, and finance live in Business Central while customers buy on Shopify. Every order, stock change, and price has to cross between them, and the connector only does that well when it's set up for how you work.
01 · Order types
POS sales that already left the shop arrive as open orders.
Fulfilled orders become sales invoices, and only orders you still ship become sales orders.
02 · Posting
Gift cards, tips, and shipping post to the wrong accounts.
Each one gets its own G/L account in the shop setup before launch.
03 · Stock lag
Shopify stock trails Business Central because nothing is scheduled.
A job queue entry sends inventory from each mapped location on a timetable.
04 · Missing fields
A field you need isn't carried by the standard connector.
An AL extension subscribes to the connector's events and adds it without touching Microsoft's code.
You turned on Microsoft's Shopify Connector, ran the first sync, and stopped there. Now Shopify POS sales that already left the shop arrive as open sales orders, so your warehouse sees work that's done. Gift cards and tips post to the wrong account. Stock in Shopify trails Business Central because no sync was ever scheduled. Your wholesale buyers on Shopify Plus see retail prices. And when you need a field the connector doesn't carry, someone suggests editing Microsoft's code.
We start with how your business really runs: which system owns stock, prices, and customers, and which orders your warehouse still has to ship. Then we configure the Shopify Connector to match, with posting accounts, sales document rules, location mapping, and a job queue schedule. Where it stops, we write a small AL extension on the connector's own events. Microsoft's updates keep installing, and your sync keeps working.
Microsoft's connector comes first
The Shopify Connector is already in your Business Central online environment, so we configure it before writing code.
Extensions, not source edits
Custom logic lives in an AL extension on the connector's events, so updates don't break it.
One owner for stock
Your Business Central locations send stock to Shopify, so your counts stop drifting between channels.
Our Shopify Business Central Integration Process
You approve the posting map and check the sandbox orders before anything touches your production company, so your finance team isn't left undoing a sync.
We check your environment (online or on-premises), your Shopify plan, and the data you want synced. You get a plain answer on whether a standard Shopify integration with Dynamics 365 Business Central covers it, and a fixed quote.
What's Included
A connector review, posting setup, item and stock sync, order and refund rules, AL extensions where needed, and a sandbox test before your production company is touched.
Compare Options
Setting up the connector yourself suits a simple store, and a middleware app suits teams that sync many systems at once. Here's where each one fits your Shopify store on Business Central.
| Feature | DeveloperLookBest fit | DIY setup | Middleware app |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | From $800, fixed | Free, but staff time | Setup fee or none |
| Posting setup | Mapped and approved first | Learned by trial and error | Varies by app |
| Order document rules | Orders or invoices by fulfillment | Default settings | Configurable |
| Custom fields and logic | AL extension on events | Not available | Configurable field mapping |
| Stock sync | Per location, on a schedule | Often left manual | Near real time |
| Testing | Sandbox orders checked | Live orders | Vendor test tools |
| Microsoft updates | Extension stays compatible | Standard connector updates | Vendor keeps it current |
| Ongoing cost | None from us | None | Monthly subscription |

Online stores and admin dashboards our team designed and built, with order and stock data behind them. They show the kind of stores you'd connect, not Business Central setups.
What Our Clients Say
Feedback from teams we have built online stores and back-office integrations for.
We had a pretty specific idea of what we wanted our website to become, but I wasn’t sure how easily we could explain all of it to a development team. There were quite a few moving parts, and we were working toward a deadline, so I expected a few things to get lost along the way. That never really happened. They understood what we were trying to achieve, kept us updated throughout the process, and got everything ready within the agreed timeline. The final site feels much easier to navigate, works beautifully on mobile, and is noticeably smoother for our customers. It was a huge relief seeing the original idea actually turn into the website we had in mind.
The mobile experience is probably my favourite part of the new site. We had spent a lot of time making sure the desktop version looked right, and the team kept pushing us to think about how everything would actually feel on a phone too. They were right. The navigation is clean, the interactions feel natural, and everything we’ve tested so far works exactly as it should. They also went through the links, forms, integrations, and other details more than once before launch, which I really appreciated. And even after going live, we could still reach out when something came up. The whole process felt friendly, organised, and surprisingly straightforward.
What I appreciate most is that the website is actually easy for us to manage now. We can update content ourselves instead of sending a developer a message every time we need to change something small. They also paid attention to the technical SEO side, which mattered to us because we didn’t want a new website to create problems for the traffic we already had. I’ve probably asked more questions than I should have since launch, but every question has been handled patiently and without any fuss. The team is easy to work with, they explain things clearly, and when we need something changed, they focus on getting it done rather than making the process complicated.

Work Culture
A sync that posts the wrong document creates work for your warehouse and your accountant. These habits keep a Microsoft Business Central Shopify integration clean from the first imported order.
Microsoft's Shopify Connector already covers items, customers, orders, and inventory. If it handles your setup as it is, we'll tell you before we quote any extension work.
We don't change the connector's source code. Custom logic lives in your own AL extension, so Microsoft's updates install without breaking your sync.
Every setting runs first in a Business Central sandbox with orders from your Shopify test store. Your finance lead checks the documents before production is touched.
The connector imports Shopify Payments payouts for information only, without posting them to your ledger. We show your accountant how to reconcile them before launch.
Job queue entries run each sync on a timetable, from orders to inventory. We set them around your warehouse and finance routines, not default intervals.
Extensions are published to your own environment, and the source goes into your repository. Your Business Central partner or in-house team can maintain it later.
Overview
DeveloperLook sets up Shopify Business Central integration for stores that run stock, purchasing, and finance in Microsoft's ERP. We configure the Shopify Connector, map posting accounts, locations, and order rules, and add AL extensions where it stops. Projects start at $800 and take 1 to 3 weeks, or up to 7 weeks with extensions.

Good fit
Stores with stock and finance in Business Central
You need a business central shopify integration that turns web orders into the right sales documents and keeps stock from your warehouse locations accurate online.
Shopify Plus brands selling wholesale
Your wholesale buyers order on Shopify Plus, and you want B2B companies and catalog prices sent from Business Central instead of keyed in twice.
Groups running several Shopify stores
You run separate Shopify stores for brands or regions, and each needs its own products, locations, and prices from one Business Central company.
Companies on Business Central on-premises
Your Business Central runs on your own servers, so Microsoft's connector isn't available, and you need a dynamics 365 shopify integration built on its APIs.
Business Central partners and Shopify agencies
You implement Business Central or build Shopify stores, and a client needs the Shopify side configured, extended, and tested without pulling your team off billable work.
Not a fit
Books in QuickBooks or Xero
Your books live in QuickBooks Online or Xero, not Business Central. Our Shopify QuickBooks Integration and Shopify Xero Integration pages cover those payout setups.
Your ERP is Odoo
You run Odoo rather than Business Central. Our Shopify Odoo Integration page covers its connector options and custom sync work.
Finance and Supply Chain users
You run Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management, which the Shopify Connector doesn't cover. Our Shopify ERP Integration page fits that setup better.
Budget under $800
Your budget is under $800, you sell from one location, and you have no wholesale buyers. Microsoft's own setup guide lets your admin connect the store alone.

Send the environment details, the Shopify store, and the client's posting setup.
You get a written settings plan and a fixed quote for your proposal.
We configure, extend, and test in a sandbox, then hand over under your brand.
You run the client conversations while we configure behind the scenes.

A Business Central Shopify integration starts at $800 for Microsoft's connector set up on your store, with posting accounts and one stock location. Several locations, price groups, refunds, and Plus wholesale cost $2,250. AL extensions, extra stores, or an on-premises custom sync start at $4,900, each at a fixed price.
Most connector setups take 1 to 3 weeks, including a sandbox test with your real order types. Projects with AL extensions or several stores take 4 to 7 weeks. We connect production early in the week, so the first imported orders arrive while we're watching the job queue.
Open the Shopify Shops page in Business Central online, create a shop, enter your store's URL, and approve the connection when Shopify asks. Before the first sync, set customer templates, posting accounts, and which orders become sales orders or invoices. We run this in a sandbox first, then repeat it in production.
A Shopify Dynamics 365 integration works best when you decide which system owns each kind of data first, then configure the connector to match. Business Central usually owns stock and prices, Shopify owns orders, and both share items and customers. Anything the connector doesn't support goes into a small AL extension, not a spreadsheet workaround your team has to remember.
You need Business Central online, a Business Central license, and a Shopify store. Microsoft preinstalls the Shopify Connector in new online environments, and older ones add it from Microsoft AppSource. On-premises installations can't use the connector, so they need a custom sync built on the Business Central APIs.
Through Microsoft's Shopify Connector, which syncs items and customers both ways, sends stock and prices from Business Central, and imports orders, refunds, and payouts. Each sync can repeat on a job queue entry, so your orders arrive and your stock updates on the timetable you set, not when someone remembers to click.
Microsoft lists no separate fee for it: you need a Business Central license and a Shopify plan, and the Shopify app is free to install. Our fee covers configuring it for your posting, stock, and order rules, plus any extension work it needs. If the defaults already fit, we'll say so.
Yes, on Shopify Plus. The connector syncs B2B companies with their main contact and exports catalog prices from Business Central price groups. Wholesale orders then import like any other Shopify order, so your team handles them in Business Central the usual way, with the company's terms on the sales document.
No. The connector imports Shopify Payments payouts for information only, and they don't post to the general ledger or bank ledger. We set up a reconciliation routine so your accountant can match each payout to its bank deposit and its fees, or build an extension when payouts must post.
Every plan includes post-launch support: 30 days on Connector Setup, 60 days on Full Operations Sync, and 90 days on Extended Integration. We watch the job queue, fix failed imports, and adjust settings. Extension code lives in your repository, so later changes don't depend on us.
