The Problem
It starts after a weekend of fender benders. Your phone fills with photo texts, half of them blurry, and drivers call other shops while you sort through them.
Photos arrive blurry, far away, and without the VIN.
Your estimator calls back Monday and gets voicemail.
The insurer suggests a network shop before you answer.
A driver backs into a pole on Saturday and texts your shop cell a few photos. None shows the VIN or the mileage. Your estimator calls back Monday and gets voicemail. Meanwhile the insurer suggests a shop from its network, and the job is gone. Other requests arrive by email and Facebook, so you can't tell which ones got an answer.
Guided steps ask for each shot and check it before the driver moves on.
Requests land in a review queue with reply templates and a booking link.
Opt-in texts bring unfinished uploads back while the driver is still deciding.
We start with your estimators' shot list. Then we build a guided phone flow on your website that asks for the corners, close-ups, the VIN, and the odometer. Requests land in one review queue, and drivers who stop halfway get an opt-in text back to their saved photos. Your estimates go out while the driver is still deciding, not after the insurer has picked a shop.
Shots estimators actually need
Corners, close-ups, VIN plate, and odometer, in the order your estimators write from.
Replies before the claim call
Preliminary numbers and drop-off times reach the driver while they're still choosing a shop.
Photos into your estimating system
Photo sets export for your estimating system, so nobody saves texts one by one.
Our Photo Portal Process
You see the shot list, the texts, and a staging copy before anything goes live. You approve each step.
What's Included
Three parts work together. A phone flow drivers finish in a parking lot, a queue your estimators work from, and a clean path into your estimating system.
Compare Options
Texting costs nothing, and a vendor add-on switches on fast. Both suit some shops. Here is where each holds up.

What Our Clients Say
Feedback from teams we have built customer portals, uploads, and web apps for.
We had a pretty specific idea of what we wanted our website to become, but I wasn’t sure how easily we could explain all of it to a development team. There were quite a few moving parts, and we were working toward a deadline, so I expected a few things to get lost along the way. That never really happened. They understood what we were trying to achieve, kept us updated throughout the process, and got everything ready within the agreed timeline. The final site feels much easier to navigate, works beautifully on mobile, and is noticeably smoother for our customers. It was a huge relief seeing the original idea actually turn into the website we had in mind.
The mobile experience is probably my favourite part of the new site. We had spent a lot of time making sure the desktop version looked right, and the team kept pushing us to think about how everything would actually feel on a phone too. They were right. The navigation is clean, the interactions feel natural, and everything we’ve tested so far works exactly as it should. They also went through the links, forms, integrations, and other details more than once before launch, which I really appreciated. And even after going live, we could still reach out when something came up. The whole process felt friendly, organised, and surprisingly straightforward.
What I appreciate most is that the website is actually easy for us to manage now. We can update content ourselves instead of sending a developer a message every time we need to change something small. They also paid attention to the technical SEO side, which mattered to us because we didn’t want a new website to create problems for the traffic we already had. I’ve probably asked more questions than I should have since launch, but every question has been handled patiently and without any fuss. The team is easy to work with, they explain things clearly, and when we need something changed, they focus on getting it done rather than making the process complicated.

Work Culture
We build intake for people who write estimates all day. These habits keep photo requests usable, private, and quick to answer.
Overview
DeveloperLook builds virtual auto body estimate portals for collision repair centers. Drivers photograph damage, the VIN, and the odometer in guided steps. Estimators reply with a preliminary estimate and a drop-off time, and opt-in texts recover unfinished uploads. Portals start at $1,250, launch in 3 to 10 weeks, and hand photos to CCC ONE, Mitchell, or Qapter.
Your estimator spends mornings chasing photos. You want usable requests before anyone picks up the phone.
You run several locations, and requests need to reach the right shop by ZIP code and the estimator on duty.
Your estimating system isn't CCC ONE, so a CCC plugin won't help, but you still want online photo requests.
You use CCC Engage, but you want your own branded steps, follow-up texts, and reports your team can change.
You design sites for collision clients and need a photo estimate tool for body shops that carries your agency's name.
Your budget is under $1,250. An upload field on your contact form, built with our Auto Body Shop Website Design service, costs less.
You're on CCC ONE with the Engage package and only need drivers to send photos. That package includes CCC's own tool, so start there.
You need more drivers finding you first. Our Collision Repair Marketing Agency service runs the ads that feed this portal.
You mainly do mechanical work and want customers approving inspection findings. Our Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) Portal fits better.

Pricing
These are starting points in USD. Shop count, estimating system, and texting needs set the final price, fixed in writing after a free photo workflow review.
For single collision shops that need clean photo requests and faster replies.
$1,250
For busy shops that want status tracking, follow-up texts, and an estimating handoff.
$2,750
For collision groups that route requests across several locations and estimators.
$5,450
For Agencies
You own the client relationship. We supply the portal engineering, from the guided photo steps to the estimator queue, under your agency's name. Your collision clients see your brand, and you keep the account.
Send the shop's estimating system, locations, and how photos arrive today.
We draft the shot list and flow, then quote a fixed price and a timeline.
We build under your brand, test with the shop's estimators, and hand over admin access.
The Right Technology for Your Project
A fast phone flow, private photo storage, and texting in accounts your shop owns, connected to the estimating system you use.
FAQ
Straight answers on cost, timing, guided photos, follow-up texts, and estimating system connections.
A virtual auto body estimate portal starts at $1,250 for guided photo intake at one shop. The $2,750 plan adds a status board, opt-in texts, and photo export. Multi-shop groups with routing start at $5,450, and you get a fixed quote after the free workflow review.
Most single-shop portals launch in 3 to 4 weeks. Estimate Desk builds take 5 to 7 weeks, and multi-shop portals take 8 to 10 weeks. A2P 10DLC approval for follow-up texts runs through your texting provider, so we start that paperwork in week one.
Body shops implement it with a phone flow that asks for one shot at a time. The browser opens the rear camera through the file input's capture setting, and a quick check flags dark or distant photos. A typical order is four corners, close-ups, the VIN plate, then the odometer.
It wins by answering first. Your estimator replies with a preliminary number and a drop-off time the same day. That can land before the claim call where the insurer suggests its network. A claim page in your own words explains how you work with insurers, without promises you can't keep.
We usually set one reminder text about an hour after the driver stops, then one email the next morning. Both link back to their saved photos, so nobody reshoots the corners. Texts go only to drivers who ticked the opt-in box, from a number registered for A2P 10DLC.
You connect them through the paths each vendor supports. CCC Engage Photo Estimate drops submissions into a CCC ONE workfile, and CCC Secure Share sends estimate data to registered apps. For Mitchell and Qapter (Solera renamed Audatex Estimating to Qapter), we export each photo set by VIN for your estimator to upload.
A virtual collision repair estimate can price visible damage, but hidden damage usually shows up after teardown. So the portal labels the first number as preliminary and books an in-person look. Your estimators can request extra angles, and the driver adds them from the same link.
It keeps every photo in private cloud storage, not a public folder. Location data is stripped on upload, your estimators sign in with their own accounts, and download links expire after use. Plates, faces, and insurance cards in the photos stay visible only to your team.
Drivers can start on a desktop, but the photos come from a phone. The desktop page shows a QR code that opens the same request on their phone with their details kept. We test on Safari for iPhone and Chrome for Android, including older phones with small screens.
Your shop owns the portal code, the storage account, and the request history. You get admin access, a short guide for adding estimators, and a texting account in your company's name. Support covers 30 to 90 days of fixes by plan, and later changes are quoted as small fixed jobs.
