10-domain maturity scorecard
Every domain scored 0 to 5 on one page, so leaders see strengths and gaps at a glance.
For companies that want an honest security baseline: 10 domains scored from real settings and live tests, with a roadmap you can repeat each year. From $850.

The Problem
Most teams describe their security from memory. Settings drift, people leave, and backups go untested, so questionnaire answers and board slides slowly stop being true.
Memory
Security answers come from memory, not current settings.
Memory
We read the settings in your consoles before scoring anything.
Backups
Backups run nightly, but nobody has tried a restore.
Backups
We restore a real file with your team and record how long it took.
Leavers
Former staff still appear in apps months after leaving.
Leavers
We trace a recent leaver's accounts across email, files, and key apps.
Progress
Leaders can't tell if security improved since last year.
Progress
The same 0 to 5 scale is re-run, so changes show up as numbers.
Someone asks how secure the company is, and the answer is a shrug or a confident guess. Your IT provider says MFA is on, but nobody has checked the 3 admin accounts created last year. Backups run every night, yet no one has restored a file since setup. A leaver from March still appears in the HR app. Customers send questionnaires, and you answer from memory. Without a baseline, you can't show leaders whether security is getting better or worse.
We start with evidence, not opinions: read-only views of your identity, email, device, backup, and cloud settings. Then we run live proof tests and score 10 domains from 0 to 5. You see where you stand today, what good looks like for a company your size, and the order to close the gaps. Next year, the same scale shows real progress instead of a fresh opinion.
Scored from 0 to 5
10 domains on one maturity scale, so progress is measurable from one year to the next.
Tested, not just asked
Live proof tests check that backups restore and leavers lose access, beyond interview answers.
Targets that fit your size
You choose the score each domain should reach, so a 30-person firm isn't judged like a bank.
Our Cybersecurity Assessment Process
You agree the scope, grant read-only access, watch the proof tests, and review draft scores before the final scorecard and roadmap arrive.
We agree which domains matter most, who joins the interviews, and which consoles we can view. You get a scope and a fixed price. If a free online self-check would answer your question, we'll say so before we quote.
What's Included
The full set below comes with the Maturity Assessment. The Posture Check includes the scorecard, 3 proof tests, the checklist, and the ranked gaps.
Compare Options
A free online self-check is a quick start, and your IT provider knows your setup best. Here is where each helps and where it falls short for a scored baseline.
| Feature | DeveloperLookBest fit | Online self-check | IT provider review |
|---|---|---|---|
| Planning | Scope set around your customers | Fixed generic questions | Whatever they already manage |
| Scoring scale | 0 to 5 per domain | Pass or fail answers | Often no formal score |
| Evidence | Read from your live settings | Your own answers | Their own tickets and tools |
| Proof tests | Restore, leaver, and MFA tests | Sometimes, done informally | |
| Independence | Outside view of your setup | Neutral but shallow | Grading their own work |
| Framework mapping | CIS, NIST CSF, or ISO 27001 | Usually one vendor model | Rarely provided |
| Speed and cost | From $850, 1 to 4 weeks | Free, under an hour | Often included in the contract |
| Repeatability | Same scale every year | Easy to repeat yourself | Depends on the technician |
Projects We've Built

What Our Clients Say
Feedback from teams we have built SaaS platforms, apps, and websites for.
We had a pretty specific idea of what we wanted our website to become, but I wasnโt sure how easily we could explain all of it to a development team. There were quite a few moving parts, and we were working toward a deadline, so I expected a few things to get lost along the way. That never really happened. They understood what we were trying to achieve, kept us updated throughout the process, and got everything ready within the agreed timeline. The final site feels much easier to navigate, works beautifully on mobile, and is noticeably smoother for our customers. It was a huge relief seeing the original idea actually turn into the website we had in mind.
The mobile experience is probably my favourite part of the new site. We had spent a lot of time making sure the desktop version looked right, and the team kept pushing us to think about how everything would actually feel on a phone too. They were right. The navigation is clean, the interactions feel natural, and everything weโve tested so far works exactly as it should. They also went through the links, forms, integrations, and other details more than once before launch, which I really appreciated. And even after going live, we could still reach out when something came up. The whole process felt friendly, organised, and surprisingly straightforward.
What I appreciate most is that the website is actually easy for us to manage now. We can update content ourselves instead of sending a developer a message every time we need to change something small. They also paid attention to the technical SEO side, which mattered to us because we didnโt want a new website to create problems for the traffic we already had. Iโve probably asked more questions than I should have since launch, but every question has been handled patiently and without any fuss. The team is easy to work with, they explain things clearly, and when we need something changed, they focus on getting it done rather than making the process complicated.

Work Culture
We score from evidence, keep our access read-only, and size targets to your company, so the result is honest and the roadmap is affordable.
We ask for viewer roles, not admin rights, during the assessment. You keep control of your systems, and our access ends when the work does.
A written policy scores lower than a setting we can see working. That keeps your score honest when a customer checks it.
You get our written 0 to 5 criteria, so anyone can re-score the same way. Your progress stays comparable even if you change providers.
A 40-person firm doesn't need bank-level controls. Targets match your size, data, and customers, so the roadmap stays affordable and realistic.
Each domain gets a one-line verdict a non-technical owner can read. The technical detail sits underneath for your IT team.
The scorecard, checklist, and evidence files come in editable formats. Hand them to auditors, insurers, or a future security hire.

Your first enterprise prospect sent a long security questionnaire, and you want a cybersecurity posture assessment before you answer it.
SMBs with an outsourced IT provider
Your IT provider runs everything, and you want an SMB cybersecurity assessment from someone who isn't grading their own work.
Leaders who need a yearly baseline
Your board asks every year whether security is improving, and you need cybersecurity assessments on the same scale to answer with numbers.
Teams on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
You run on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace with apps in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and nobody has reviewed the settings since setup.
Agencies and MSPs
You manage IT for clients and need IT security assessment services you can resell, scored on one scale across every client.
Not a fit
Need a scored risk register
You need each risk scored by likelihood and impact, with owners and treatment decisions. Our Cybersecurity Risk Assessment Services page is built for that.
NIST CSF profile required
A customer or regulator asks for a NIST CSF 2.0 current and target profile. Our NIST Cybersecurity Framework Assessment covers all 22 categories.
Formal audit evidence needed
You need controls tested with samples for an auditor or a compliance deadline. Our Cybersecurity Audit Services page tests controls the way auditors do.
Budget under $850
Your budget is under $850 and you have fewer than 10 people. Our Cybersecurity Services for Small Business page switches on the basics first.

A cybersecurity assessment is a review of your security controls that measures how well each one is set up and working. It covers areas such as identity, email, devices, backups, and cloud. A good one checks real settings and ends with scores, ranked gaps, and a plan, not just a list of questions.
A cybersecurity maturity assessment scores how reliably your controls run, from 0 (not in place) to 5 (measured and improving). It asks whether a control exists, is documented, has an owner, and gets checked. The score shows whether good security depends on one person's memory or on a repeatable process.
Cyber security assessment services from DeveloperLook start at $850 for a Posture Check of all 10 domains with 3 proof tests. The Maturity Assessment is $2,050 and adds full evidence review, targets, and a framework crosswalk. Assess and Improve is $4,250 and adds up to 20 hours of fixes and a 6-month re-score.
A Posture Check takes 1 to 2 weeks, and a Maturity Assessment takes 3 to 4 weeks from scoping call to readout. Assess and Improve runs 6 to 8 weeks, plus a re-score at 6 months. Most delays come from access setup, so granting read-only roles early keeps the dates.
Expect a score for every security domain, evidence behind each score, tested capabilities, and a ranked plan. A comprehensive review also maps results to a framework your customers recognize, such as CIS Controls v8.1 or ISO/IEC 27001. If you only get your own questionnaire answers back, it wasn't comprehensive.
The key components are defined domains, a scoring scale, evidence for each score, a target level, and a gap plan. We use 10 domains, from governance to vendors and training, scored 0 to 5. Without evidence and targets, a maturity score is just an opinion with a number attached.
A capabilities assessment tests whether your defenses work when needed, rather than whether they exist on paper. We restore a file from backup, confirm a leaver's access is gone, and check admin MFA. The Maturity Assessment plan adds an alert test and a phishing report test, each recorded with screenshots.
Judge cybersecurity advisory services by what they check and what you keep. Ask whether they read real settings or only interview you, whether they test controls, and whether their scoring scale is written down. Also ask who does the work, and whether the roadmap fits your budget instead of selling their tools.
No, we work with read-only roles. That means Global Reader in Microsoft Entra ID, viewer access in your device manager, and security audit roles in AWS or Azure. You keep full control, we remove our access when the work ends, and proof tests run with your team present.
After the readout you get 30 days of email support for questions about scores and fixes. Your IT provider can work from the roadmap, or we can make the fixes on the Assess and Improve plan. Most teams re-score once a year on the same 0 to 5 scale to show progress.
