Line-level findings
Each issue as a pull request comment or ticket with file, line, severity, exploit path, and fix.
For teams shipping web apps and APIs: your sign-in, access checks, and data handling read line by line, with a fix for every finding. From $850.

The Problem
Code review on most teams checks whether code works, not whether it can be abused. Security bugs ride along with each feature until a customer or an attacker finds them.
Access checks
Endpoints return records without checking who owns them.
Access checks
We trace every route's authorization logic and flag missing ownership checks.
Secrets
API keys live in config files and git history.
Secrets
We scan the full history, list exposed secrets, and give rotation steps.
Scanner noise
Hundreds of tool warnings, so nobody reads any.
Scanner noise
We triage tool output by hand and report only confirmed, exploitable issues.
Review habits
Teammates approve diffs without a security lens.
Review habits
You get a checklist and CI rules so reviews catch these bugs next time.
Your team ships every week, and code review means a teammate skimming the diff before lunch. Nobody checks whether the new invoice endpoint confirms the account actually owns that invoice. An API key sat in a config file for a month, and it's still in git history. Your scanner reports hundreds of warnings, so everyone ignores all of them. Then a prospect's security team asks for proof of a security review before they sign.
We start with the code that guards your data: sign-in, sessions, access checks, queries, uploads, and secrets. A senior engineer reads those paths line by line, using Semgrep and CodeQL only to find places worth reading. Every finding comes with the file, the line, how an attacker would use it, and a suggested fix. You get pull request comments to act on, not a PDF of scanner output.
Read line by line
A senior engineer reads authentication, access checks, and data handling by hand, not by rule count.
Findings you can locate
Every issue points to a file and line, with an exploit path and a suggested fix.
Your fixes reviewed too
Fix pull requests get a second look, so each finding closes properly and stays closed.
Our Secure Code Review Process
You grant read-only access, get findings where your developers already work, and see each one closed after your fix is reviewed.
You tell us the repository, languages, frameworks, and what's driving the review, such as a customer questionnaire. We agree which parts are security-critical and set a fixed price. If a scanner plus a checklist would cover a small codebase, we'll tell you before we quote.
What's Included
Every plan reads your security-critical code by hand and checks your fixes. Larger plans cover the whole app and keep reviews going through CI rules and team habits.
Compare Options
A SAST tool watches every commit, and peer review already happens on each pull request. Here is what each catches and where a manual security review adds depth.
| Feature | DeveloperLookBest fit | SAST tool | Peer review |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starting point | Scoping call and read-only access | Install and run in CI | Part of every pull request |
| What gets read | Security-critical paths, line by line | Every file, by pattern | The diff in front of them |
| Logic flaws | Found by tracing how access works | Rarely detected | Only if someone looks |
| False positives | Confirmed by hand before reporting | Many, needs triage | Few, but issues missed |
| Speed | Results in 1 to 4 weeks | Results in minutes | Within hours, on every change |
| Ongoing coverage | Point in time, plus CI rules | Every commit, automatically | Every pull request |
| Fix guidance | Suggested fix for each finding | Generic rule descriptions | Depends on the reviewer |
| Cost | From $850, fixed price | Free tiers to paid seats | Your team's time |
Projects We've Built
Web apps and SaaS platforms we built, from finance dashboards to time tracking software. These are build projects, not security reviews of another team's code.

What Our Clients Say
Feedback from teams we have built SaaS platforms and web apps for.
We had a pretty specific idea of what we wanted our website to become, but I wasnโt sure how easily we could explain all of it to a development team. There were quite a few moving parts, and we were working toward a deadline, so I expected a few things to get lost along the way. That never really happened. They understood what we were trying to achieve, kept us updated throughout the process, and got everything ready within the agreed timeline. The final site feels much easier to navigate, works beautifully on mobile, and is noticeably smoother for our customers. It was a huge relief seeing the original idea actually turn into the website we had in mind.
The mobile experience is probably my favourite part of the new site. We had spent a lot of time making sure the desktop version looked right, and the team kept pushing us to think about how everything would actually feel on a phone too. They were right. The navigation is clean, the interactions feel natural, and everything weโve tested so far works exactly as it should. They also went through the links, forms, integrations, and other details more than once before launch, which I really appreciated. And even after going live, we could still reach out when something came up. The whole process felt friendly, organised, and surprisingly straightforward.
What I appreciate most is that the website is actually easy for us to manage now. We can update content ourselves instead of sending a developer a message every time we need to change something small. They also paid attention to the technical SEO side, which mattered to us because we didnโt want a new website to create problems for the traffic we already had. Iโve probably asked more questions than I should have since launch, but every question has been handled patiently and without any fuss. The team is easy to work with, they explain things clearly, and when we need something changed, they focus on getting it done rather than making the process complicated.

Work Culture
Handing over source code takes trust. We read without writing, confirm before reporting, and leave your developers better at spotting the next bug.
We only need read access, and nothing gets pushed to your codebase. Your branches, pipelines, and secrets stay under your control.
Each review is done by a senior engineer who builds apps on your stack. Your code isn't where someone learns security.
Tool output is a lead, not a finding. We trace or reproduce each issue before it reaches you, so your team trusts every ticket.
Reviews run under NDA on read-only access. Local clones are deleted when the engagement ends, and we confirm it in writing.
Each finding explains the pattern behind the bug, not just the line. Your developers learn to spot the same mistake in new code.
Every finding comes with a suggested change written in your framework's style. Your team spends its time fixing, not researching.
Overview
DeveloperLook provides secure code review services for teams shipping web apps and APIs. A senior engineer reads your authentication, access checks, data handling, and secrets line by line, then posts each finding with its file, line, and fix. Reviews start at $850, take 1 to 4 weeks, and include a review of your fixes.

Good fit
SaaS teams facing security questionnaires
Your biggest prospect's security team wants proof of a security review before they sign, and you have 2 weeks to show it.
Startups before a pen test
You have a penetration test booked, and you want the code reviewed for security first, so testers find deeper issues, not easy ones.
Teams inheriting a codebase
You took over code from an agency or freelancer, and you need a secure source code review before it handles real customer data.
Engineering leads building habits
Your team reviews every pull request, but nobody looks for security bugs, and you want an OWASP code review process they'll keep.
Agencies shipping client apps
You deliver apps for clients and want an independent security code analysis under your brand before each launch.
Not a fit
No access to source code
You use a vendor's app and can't share its code. Our Web Application Penetration Testing Services page tests the running app from outside instead.
Plain-English quality verdict
You're an owner who wants to know if code is maintainable, not only secure. Our Code Audit Services page scores architecture, tests, and upkeep.
Security in every sprint
You want security built into each sprint, with threat models and release gates. Our Secure Software Development Services page covers that ongoing practice.
Tiny codebase, small budget
Your app is a few thousand lines and your budget is under $850. A free Semgrep scan plus OWASP's own review checklist is a fine place to start.

Pricing
These are starting points in USD. Your final price depends on lines of code in scope, languages, and fix review rounds, and you get a fixed proposal after a free scoping call.
For Agencies
You own the client relationship. We review each client codebase before launch and write the findings under your brand, with suggested fixes your developers can apply. Your client gets a written review from you.
White label: your client only ever sees your brand
Send the repository, stack, and launch date, and we confirm scope and price.
We read the code and post findings under your name, with your leads copied.
You fix, we verify, and you hand the client a written review.

The Right Technology for Your Project
We pair open-source analysis tools with OWASP standards, then read the code ourselves. Tools mark where to look, and people decide what's real.

Secure code review is reading source code to find security flaws before attackers do. A reviewer traces how data enters, how access is checked, and where secrets and queries live. Tools help find candidates, but a person confirms each issue, because tools miss flaws in business logic.
Our Module Review starts at $850 for one service of up to 10,000 lines. The Full App Review is $2,300 for up to 40,000 lines, with every route and role checked. Review and Workflow is $4,600 and adds CI rules, a team checklist, and training on your own findings.
A Module Review takes 1 to 2 weeks, and a Full App Review takes 3 to 4 weeks, including the developer walkthrough. Review and Workflow runs 5 to 8 weeks, because CI rules get tuned against your real pull requests. Fix reviews happen as your team pushes changes.
Start by mapping entry points, roles, and data flows, then read the code that guards them. We run scanners first to mark candidates, then trace each path by hand: input to query, request to access check, secret to log. Every confirmed issue gets a file, a line, and a fix.
Review in short passes with one goal each: correctness, readability, then security. Work from a written checklist, such as the one OWASP publishes, and keep each pass under an hour. Focus the security pass on authentication, authorization, input handling, and secrets, where the costliest bugs hide.
Combine static analysis tools with manual tracing. Semgrep and CodeQL flag risky patterns, OSV-Scanner checks dependencies, and gitleaks finds committed secrets. Then a reviewer confirms which flags are exploitable and looks for what tools miss, such as a missing ownership check on a single API route.
It covers the risks in the OWASP Top 10 and the requirements in OWASP ASVS, such as access control, injection, authentication, and cryptography. We use ASVS 5.0, published in May 2025, as the checklist for each control. OWASP's code review guidance shapes how we read each area of your code.
Add security checks where reviews already happen: the pull request. We set up Semgrep rules and secret scanning in CI, a short security section in the pull request template, and CODEOWNERS so sensitive files need a second approver. A written checklist keeps human reviewers consistent.
Reviews spread security knowledge because developers see real flaws in code they know. When findings explain the pattern behind them, people start spotting the same mistake in their own new pull requests. That's why our Full App Review includes a walkthrough of findings with your developers.
You keep the findings, the report, and 30 days of email support. We review your fix pull requests and close each finding once the fix holds. You can book a lighter re-review before a major release, or add the workflow plan so checks keep running in CI.
